The Groundlings Theatre

Melrose Avenue's Groundlings have been practicing their high-octane brand of anything-goes improvisation for nearly three decades. Audiences know the group for their wacky sketch comedy and lightning audience participation rounds, but for aspiring comedians and writers it's the Groundlings School that's the real draw. With courses in beginning and advanced improv, sketch and monologue comedy, the school has trained several generations of young wits. Its alumni includes a laundry list of "SNL"-ers (Phil Hartman, Julia Sweeney, Will Ferrell, Laraine Newman), Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson and Emmy-winning "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow. The theatre was also the home of Paul Reubens' early, raunchier version of "Pee-Wee's Playhouse." With pristine standards and a pool of hundreds of talented newcomers to draw from, the troupe offers some of the quickest, cleverest improv in town, cozily presented in their own 100-seat theater.

So I honestly don't know why the show gets a bad rap on here with reviews but happy t share my experience. I came by myself from Australia and had a fantastic time. I think people are expecting way to much for something which you get for free. I had a general admission ticket so I arrived around 1:45pm made friends with people in the line and started chatting with them time went by fast. The 1iota team are super friendly and really helpful. They made the experience a whole lot better. Basically all general get in and the crowd of priority tickets were pretty big as well. Our guest were Billy crystal and Ben Schwartz. We also got to see the first premier of the new bieber carpool and todddlerography. My seats were also in the front row which was amazing! I can understand now whey when at the set people are annoyed that James does not interact as much with the crowd but he does at the level that I would think is enough for someone doing a tv show because he is also at work so he needs to focus on delivering the show for an audience at home not in the studio. At the end of the episode he ran around giving Hi 5s to all I even got to give him a hug. Its definitely an experience worth going to and would happily go back if i can! Thank you Late Late Show and 1Iota for making my experience awesome!
