May 27, 2021 Viva Honore

Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourgish: Esch-Uelzecht pronounced [ˈæʒ‿ˈuə̯ltsəɕt], German: Esch-an-der-Alzette or Esch-an-der-Alzig, French: Esch-sur-Alzette) is a commune with town status in south-western Luxembourg. It is the country's second "city", and its second-most populous commune, with a population of 33,286 inhabitants. It lies in the south-west of the country, on the border with France and in the valley of the Alzette, which flows through the town. The town is usually referred to as just Esch; however, the full name distinguishes it from the village and commune of Esch-sur-Sûre which lies 45 kilometres (28 miles) further north. The country's capital, Luxembourg City, is roughly 15 km (9.3 mi) to the north-east.

I love this place. Great restaurant (really good food, but quite expensive) the bar (lovely, especially during summer), the concert room (not too big and good acoustics) and all the different kind of events (sports, being together, fashion, music,..)

Rockhal

Boasting three concert halls – the Main Hall that can accommodate an audience of up to 6500 and the Club that can hold 1200 and The Floor with a capacity up to 200 – the Rockhal, a complex managed by the public institution Centre de Musiques Amplifiées and co-financed by the Luxembourgish State, is Luxembourg's No 1 concert venue. The Rockhal is also a Music & Resources Centre, comprising no fewer than six rehearsal rooms, a recording studio, a dance studio and a documentation centre. In short, a place where players of the Luxembourg music scene, professional and amateur alike, can interact and share their views on the local industry.

The Rockhal is a medium tier concert venue in the west of Luxembourg. Easily reached from the city by train line 60 taking 30 minutes, every 20 or so minutes and free of charge with any valid concert ticket. Night trains back too so no worries there. Just a few steps from the French border, this venue has a modern classic style framed by block blue Rockhal lettering sign as you approach. Certainly gives you the feeling of excitement. Today, I visited the Dire Straits Experience. The venue had a lot to live up to as on a sideline, the band was the best I had ever heard them play and this was the best concert I had ever been too. The venue also did not let me down. Spacious, well organised and just excellent. Drink prices reasonable for this type of venue, no excessive waiting and once in the concert hall, seats laid out with plenty of space and ease of finding. Slightly cushioned too :). Some acts offer the Amplify VIP experience. This provides a clock room, a lounge area with allocated seats, a 4 course dinner (2 canapé style food boxes, main fish or meat course and cheese buffet) and a desert course after the concert. Unlimited champagne, beer, wines, soft drinks before and after the concert with no rush in a relaxed ambience playing recorded music. The staff were plentiful, attentive and very friendly. Not cheap at around the price of the concert ticket again but worthwhile if you would like to avoid the crowds and celebrate anything. A truly exceptional night out in Luxembourg.
