Sat down in a fantastically vintage Southern American whiskey bar with a very friendly hostess giving us generous amounts of different flavoured spirits. Great time, great place, and most importantly great whiskey.

If you're a hunter and conservationist (which is somewhat redundant) or wanting to teach a friend or family member about conservation, then the museum at the National Wild Turkey Federation Headquarters in Edgefield, S.C., is well worth the visit. Few conservation success stories can rival the restoration of the wild turkey in the United States. The museum traces the journey from the organization's founding in Fredericksburg, Va., in 1973 to today. Special collections spotlight key people involved in this effort. Youngsters can learn about wild turkey behavior and biology and people interested in seeing how quality habitat is essential to sustainable populations of wildlife can gain a valuable tutorial. It's open on weekdays.
