Dordogne (French pronunciation: [dɔʁdɔɲ]; Occitan: Dordonha) is a department in southwestern France, with its prefecture in Périgueux. The department is located in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees, and is named after the Dordogne river that runs through it. It corresponds roughly with the ancient county of Périgord.

There is the added bonus of watching canoes on the river and families on the beach. The cliffs immediately in front of the restaurant are awe inspiring! One of my favourite places on Earth!

Depart from Bordeaux - your hotel; train station; or cruise ship Lascaux Cavern in Dordogne is an unforgettable experience! Over 600 paintings cover the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. The paintings represent mostly large animals, and are around 17,000 years old. Enjoy sightseeing in France with Christian: your English speaking private driver guide. In addition to Lascaux, there are a handful of other caves in the Dordogne region. The grotte de Rouffignac, for example. Here you board a small electric train and ride down deep into a very large cavern. Its also called the cave of 1000 mammoths. Inside you’ll find colorful images of animals; horses, wooly rhinos, mammoths, antelope, saber-tooth cats, and even human figures. We'll also drive through La Roque Saint Christophe cliff settlement ruins and explore the lovely village of Saint Leon-sur-Vezere.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Bottled water, Air-conditioned vehicle

Exclusions: Food and drinks, Lunch, Gratuities, Admission fees to Lascaux and Rouffignac Caves

The activity begins with a delicious snack with homemade cakes and local products, during which we present the horse species from prehistoric times to the present day, the reality of his needs and his relationship to man since his domestication. We approach the science of the behavior of the animal with the man, another look at the relation man-horse than that observed in the equestrian centers .... The senses of the horse are explored in detail to approach not only respectfully but also safely, and then we go to meet the Arab horses breeding, living freely in natural conditions and in different groups: the nursery, the harem ... Evolving among Bedouin horses is a comparable experience to swim with dolphins. We had a very interesting afternoon out today at Laurence Of Arabians in Mareuil. Laurence is a preserver, breeder, enthusiast and promoter of the Arabian horse. It started with a extremely delicious afternoon tea and very interesting talk by Laurence Perceval on the evolution and history of the Arabian line of horses. We learnt so much. Then we went into the fields to meet the horses, after having received careful instruction. Co-host was Laurence's dog who put us all in line, including the horses, and made sure nobody misbehaved. I highly recommend this as an afternoon out.

If you are in the Sarlat area, you simply must book this tour. Our hosts were delightful, knowledgeable, and passionate about the Perigord area, wines, food, etc., and were so accommodating to every wish. We fit in more sights and experiences than I thought possible for a day tour, and I am thrilled that we fit so much into the day. We would never have found some of these unique experiences on our own, and it is very nice to sit back and enjoy the ride with locals who can point out the sites and organize so many special visits. The group was small (only two couples and our two hosts) which allowed for easy transportation and great conversation. The lunch was delicious, and honestly, it would take too long to list all the wonderful stops we made, so read the itinerary and sign up for this tour. You will have a fabulous time!

We had great time, my wife and I, to discover Perigord with perigourmet. The vintage french car transported us in time, our guides made us feel comfortable (perfect english, super friendly atitude). We learned a lot about local producers, and best of all we tried it all. Our visit included tour of a truffle producer, Bio winery, lunch in Sarlat, visit of a local biscuit factory and finnaly a "distillerie" Our host made a taillor trip for us (my wife being vegetarian) it is especially nice in a region where meat is served in every dish Thanx again and see you next time

Spent a great couple of hours with NIco trotting around the countryside around Ribagnac. The trottinettes are a lot of fun. Takes a few minutes to get used to them but after that the route Nico takes is up and downhill, in and out of the vineyards and fields. My arms are now killing me but it was worth it!
