Bahia de las Aguilas

Reviewed By edgardoh983 - Huntsville, United States

Bahia de las Aguilas a hidden gem in Dominican Republic eco turism. Elsa Tours and our Turist Guide Tayo surprised us again. We traveled from Punta Cana to the capital Santo Domingo and visited the Los Tres Ojos, Ciudad Colonial complete tour, The Ambar Museum, El Panteon de Los Heroes and visit China Town. We eat at an excellent vegetarian restaurant and rested in Ramada Casino Hotel. At 4:00 am we were up and running. When we saw Bahia de Las Aguilas we couldn't believe it how beautiful it was. We got into the speed boat and enjoy a majestic ride to the Bahia de Las Aguilas. The environment is untouched by human development. The water is Cristal clear and you can open your eyes in the water. Is not that salty as the other ones. No waves yes is true. The water has different shade and the marine life can be seen easily. The fishes swim under your legs. The san is soft and clean. The view is majestic and romantic. Love birds this is the place to say Honey I want to spend the rest of my life with you. We swam all day and stayed in the water all day. No music only nature. I recommend without reservations Bahia de Las Aguilas and I will come back soon to camp for two days. You need a permit to stay over night and is safe.

Sosua Beach

This often crowded beach features white sand and turquoise waters.

Reviewed By PKSGIRL2011 - Southington, United States

Sosua is a wonder beach with warm clear water, awesome snorkeling, and plenty of delicious restaurants. I am writing this more of an encouragement for those traveling to this destination or staying at a resort in Sosua to consider bringing items to donate. Although this country is beautiful there are many living below poverty level. We were made aware of a school for displaced children. An orphanage that houses about 30 children. They survive through donations only. There are times during the year when the kids don’t have enough to each. Jolly Rogers restaurant hosts a Christmas party and provides some support through the year. I would encourage those traveling to the area to bring extra clothing, toiletries (toothbrush toothpaste soaps), shoes and expecially nonperishable food items. I’m sure that Jolly Rogers could get these items to the school. If you have any questions or would like more information feel free to message me.

Cant say enough about this tour. We had to take a almost 3 hour bus ride from Grand Bahia Principe San Juan resort in Puerta Plata. Totally worth it. Tour guide, driver and Staff were so friendly. Once we finally arrived at the beautiful Punta Rucia beach, we enjoyed the restrooms and a delicious welcome drink, next we started out on a nice 15 minute boat ride, plenty of food and drink, 1st stop was a natural “pool” in the middle of the ocean, absolutely breathtaking. We spent about 30 minutes there, then off to a little private island for about 90 minutes, to snorkle and just enjoy this so very special place. Next, we boated thru the mangroves, then off to the Paraiso ecolodge for a beautiful buffet lunch which included, veggies, rice, fish, chicken and all you could eat lobster, plus drinks. We had a most enjoyable time. Highly recommend this tour.

Playa Rincon

We really enjoyed our tour with RL Tours - Raffi was our guide and he was awesome. We took the Playa Rancon and Safari tour which we loved. We had children sing their national anthem to us, in their classroom, and then we visited a lovely family farm and ate mango and passion fruit off the trees, bought some cheap local honey, coffee, Mamawhana, rum, cocoa etc. Then a lovely lunch looking over the bay of Rincon Beach. We spent two hours on the beautiful beach, we rented an umbrella and chairs for $8.00USD total, soaking in the crystal green-blue waters on the whitest beach - 6Km- National Geographic says its the 4th best beach in the world, then down the other end of the beach for a dip in the natural fresh water pool. The tour was $90.00USD each and worth it.

Playa Bonita

Reviewed By CosmicMuffin

Playa Bonita has the most wonderful beaches suitable for all family members. If you like playing in the surf, or surfing the waves on a surfboard or boogie board or just snorkeling in a quiet shallow lagoon, Playa Bonita has it all. And after spending the day enjoying the beach you can enjoy a wonderful meal at the resort dining area. Best pîna colada in the area!
