Arriving at Canyon Matka you are greeted with a small hotel, restaurant and boat ride tours. One boat ride through the canyon, to the cave and back, which takes approximately an hour, is 400MKD (around 8Euro) - excellent value for money. Our guide was lovely, gave us an explanation of the history of the area and the cave itself and took our group photos!

Cute temple in outstanding place high above the canyon. Spiritual and atmospheric. Highly recommended! There are two ways how to reach the monastery - one from the bus stop (quite a walk up, around 50 minutes to go), another from the canyon (steep and stony trail). Inside the monastery you can see interesting old Orthodox Christian iconography all over the walls.
