Delphi Ruins

Reviewed By James L - Kansas City, Missouri

We took the long tour to Delphi and it was certainly worth it. What a magical place! I've read from others about hiking to the stadium and I would agree that it's worth the hike for the views. We had to break off from our tour to give us enough time to do that and I'm so glad we did as it was good to see that part as well.
This is one place i'd recommend to anyone traveling to Greece for sure.

Corycian Cave

Reviewed By Amanda M - Corpus Christi, Texas

This cave is not the easiest to find. Ask your hotelier for directions. Or ask any local you meet.
The road up the mountain is narrow, rocky, and steep. It was definitely intimidating. We had an automatic Nissan Micra for the trip and it made it up without any problems, but be advised that if you aren't used to drives like this you might want to hike up instead. Once you get to the end of the road (which in case you're wondering, has plenty of space to turn around for the drive back down), it's a tiny little hike to the entrance of the cave. At first glance, the cave looks small. But once you enter its true size becomes apparent. The cave is huge! You'll want to pack a flash light and maybe a sweater because it's also quite chilly. The cave is a wonder to behold. The history of the cave is sacred and magical - read up on it before you go to have a better appreciation of its isolation.
Remember that the cave is a wild cave - there are no restrooms and there probably won't be any other people there when you go!

Amazingly interesting story about the bees from Giannis and Nikiforos. Thank you guys for your time and sharing your knowledge. It is especially valuable that you certainly have a lot of work to do. And nonetheless you find the time for visitors like us who don't know anything about the bees, and honey, and propolis and... Great experience on the way from Delphi ruins!

Temple of Apollo

This ancient Greek temple is most famous for the oracle it contains, where pilgrims from all over the ancient world would come to have their fortunes told.

Reviewed By garsilee - Los Angeles, California

The archaeological site in Delphi known for the two sanctuaries , temple of apollo and Athena pronaia dating back to 4th century BC , I mean how old is that? I lost count ...
Naturally with many steps to climb the hike from the entrance will leave you breathless as you reach the top for the breathtaking view of the temple and the Mountains and the clouds above.
Of course the gods wouldn't have it any other way then to build their temples so high up just being here you can feel a sense of wonders of gods in their glory and the surrounding Mountains left me in true appreciation of the past and the history so real just hearing words like temple, oracle , gods and goddesses left me speechless and awestruck and just so thankful that we made this trip !

Delphi Archaeological Museum

A museum containing some of the sculptures and artifacts excavated from the Oracle.

Reviewed By Stanner57 - Princeton Junction, New Jersey

The museum building is physically attractive. Several of the larger exhibits (e.g., Kouroi of Delphi, Sphinx of Naxos, and Charioteer of Delphi) are quite famous, but the museum has many other treasures and is one of the most visited in Greece. There is a small museum shop and place to get coffee nearby.

Paragliding Fun

A tandem paragliding flight in the area of Delphi and around, it is a “must do” for those who are visiting the area and it will be the most unforgettable experience of your life! The scenery around Delphi, that combines huge rock faces, the Delphi’s ancient ruins, the city itself and the sea beside, is unique and allows you to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the world. Flying with the many times championship and cup winner Yannis, who flies since 1994, will provide you the safety you need to enjoy the pleasure of free flight, without to worry about a thing, as the song says. Finally the existence of many different take offs in the area facing different directions, will help you to make your dream come true and to fly no matter what is the direction of the wind.

Paragliding Fun is a hidden gem in Delphi. Most people who visit the the area follow the crowd and only go to the archaeological sites and the souvenir shops. However, the area has one of the most spectacular landscapes in Greece as it combines the dramatic cliffs of mount Parnassus, the vast Amfissa olive grove and the turquoise waters of Corinthian Gulf. Overall the view is stunning and there is no better place to see it than from the sky.
Yiannis, our pilot, was absolutely incredible and professional. He makes you feel very safe and comfortable all the time. Not only he is one of the most experienced paragliding pilots in Greece but he also knows how to make you feel relaxed before the take off. During the flight he is very entertaining, is giving a lot of information about the surrounding area, and takes amazing pics and videos!
We were 4 people, including our 67 years old mother who took a ride with Yannis, and we all enjoyed to the point that we will definitely do it again next time we will visit Delphi.

Tholos

Reviewed By Snowball23514 - Barnet, United Kingdom

I wouldn't be able to find the Tholos of Delphi if I didn't follow the Delphi tour guide. This Athena Pronaia Sanctuary is located around 1/2 mile from the main sanctuary of Delphi and it is below a main road at the base of Mount Parnassus. The Tholos was a circular temple that was built between 380 and 360 BC. It originally had 20 Doric columns outside and 10 Corinthian columns inside. Nowadays, you can only see only 3 Doric columns left standing. According to the map, there were also 2 Treasuries by its side but there is nothing left except for some remaining foundations.
It's worth the visit, it is as good as the main sanctuary of Delphi. Highly recommended!

Chat Tours Day Tours

Reviewed By Ron G - Eagle, Idaho

Our guide Yiouli Chryssou made this tour so interesting and informative from the start in the morning until we returned in the evening, telling in detail all the sights of Athens, the countryside and Delphi. This is definitely quite a walk, but we were told about everything so some of the people who didn't want to walk the entire hike understood everything they weren't seeing first hand. The Museum at Delphi is very good, with lots of original pieces on display Yiouli (Julie) was a wealth of knowledge.
