We spent a day here in lovely Sunshine and really enjoyed the skiing. Only down side is the T-Bar lifts but not a huge issue. Night skiing on Fridays and toboggan for crazy people!

Lake Davos

Reviewed By chchch2016 - Biel, Switzerland

We love going to Lake Davos in summer and winter. During winter the lake doesn't have much water but there are many squirrels to feed in the forest. In summer, however, it is a lovely spot to go for a swim and a BBQ, as there is a beautiful spot at the lower end of the lake, just getting out of the forest. A really good place to go with kids. You can also do water-sports on the lake. On the way to Klosters, only about a 5min. drive from this lake, there is also "Schwarzsee", another smaller lake, but very beautiful too and quite warm to swim, as well with a wonderful BBQ place, very quiet as it is a bit remote, but easy to find in Davos-Laret.

Vaillant Arena

Sure the building looks splendid, but the standing space was not worth the money for the ticket. I came to watch the Spengler Cup (haven't even heard of this). The off the ice (ditty) music was just 3 songs being played over and over....no real variety.
From where I was standing, I could hardly see anything meaningfully. There wasn't even a big screen (jumbo tron).
What was however quite shocking was Team Canada - this was definitely not the real Team Canada. Almost every player on this "team Canada" were born in Switzerland. So they weren't real Canadians. But I guess you could see from the quality of hockey played - didn't take rocket science to figure that out.
Won't be coming back here. Actually I was in Davos for a recent trip and someone got me tickets for a game - I just didn't bother going to avoid the disappointment.

Kirchner Museum Davos

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880–1938) lived in Davos from 1918 until his death in 1938. Davos and its surroundings inspired him to a large number of important works. The Kirchner Museum Davos offers visitors the remarkable experience of viewing the art of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in the place it was created.

Very nice selection of Ernst Kirchner's works painting, woodcarvings and woodcuts. The movie on his life is very interesting. a must see for neo-expressionists. Almost every one there ( a handful) were sneezing because of a musty atmosphere ( not good for those who come to Davos for rest from respiratory allergies)

Davos has all runs blue though to Black and a snowpark at Jacobshorn great place to board or ski but can be pricey for a full day lift ticket I only pay this when the snow is perfect and the pistes are not so busy.
Tips go when quite
and get a half day if you wish to save a little but saying that if you wanted a cheap boarding holiday you wouldnt be considering Davos

Wiesen Viaduct

Reviewed By thegrumpyoldgit - Southampton, United Kingdom

The Wiesen Viaduct is near Filisur on the Rhätischen Bahn railway that runs from Landquart, through Klosters and Davos. A truly fabulous and typical 'Swiss Railway' line on a narrow guage (1 metre) line. The viaduct at Wiesen can be reached from the 'request' station in 5 mins. Dont Look Down ! Its very high and the metal path stuck to the side of the bridge is a real 'belly goer' for those who suffer from a fear of heights. You shouldn't be in Switzerland though, should you?! If you get the timing right, the Bernina express or the famous Galcier Express can be seen coming out of the tunnel and over the bridge from an easy-to-get-to vantage point. Wonderful

Eau-la-la

Reviewed By Ninagoesplaces - Lucerne, Switzerland

We never received our Davos guest card from the people who rented our apt to us in Davos. It provides the person with 10% discount. When we mentioned that we didnt have one but were staying in the village (we were obviously not from there...im an american and my partner german) the woman at the reception accused us of potentially lying and that she really couldnt give us the discount until she saw the CARD. Anyone who knows anything about customer service knows that its not about "keeping the rules" but to train personnel to be flexible thinkers and in the end to provide delight and not a fight. Sadly...rules are more important than people...or charm in Switzerland. My advice: go to Austria.
