We visited in December 2019. The menace of monkeys have lessened. The road leading from the mall is quite steep and a long walk. There are uncountable number of prayer flags around the temple and one can get a nice view of the lower ground through the thick canopy of these flags and trees. There's also a place near the temple door to keep shoes and slippers.

Established by Tibetan Buddhist Monks and followers of Dalai Lama, the monastery is famous for the 100 feet stupa founded by the Tibetan Lama, Kalu Rinpoche. This monastery also known as The Great International Tashi Gomang Stupa and is situated just 6 km away from the main town. This monastery also contains five kinds of Buddhist relics.

Yiga Choeling Gompa, the Darjeeling area's most famous monastery, founded in 1850, houses up to 40 monks of the Gelugpa school. The serene temple has wonderful old murals and enshrines a 5m-high statue of Jampa (Maitreya; ‘Future Buddha’) and 300 beautifully bound Tibetan texts. It's on the western edge of Ghum, 6km south of Darjeeling: from Ghum station, walk 100m west along the main road towards Darjeeling, turn left at the sign for the monastery and go 600m.

Photography is not allowed inside. But photos can be taken from the outer side of the monetary. I went there inside and prayed. There is a big statue of Buddha and one rotating instrument is kept there.move that object and sing the chanting rhymes. Good place to see.
