Due to the swamps I would not recommend this hike in the warmer months due to bugs, snakes, and gators (signs warning you about them). We were there in February so I wasn't worried about any of them. There is a wide gravel main trail with narrow, natural trails off to the side (we didn't take any of those). We were just interested in the 28 foot circumference Jackson Oak (named after Andrew Jackson) and the d'Olive cemetery (the family got the land in 1787 in a spanish land grant). There is a boardwalk taking you to/around the beautiful oak so please stay on that. There is supposed to be a boardwalk that passes over a gator lagoon but we didn't find it. Confederate soldiers camped on this land during the Civil War.
