The hike was tiring but rewarding. Beautiful views. Took us about 3 hours roundtrip. Wear many layers. Our guide was friendly, not great English. The breakfast and lunch were okay, at the same restaurant. No toilet paper in the restroom. The roads were bumpy and the ride was uncomfortable. Our van broke down on the way back and we had to hop on another group’s van. They dropped us off at the town center rather than our hotel, so we had to walk back 12 min.

My son was travelling for 4 months in South America and when he asked if I'd like to accompany him to trek and see Machu Pichu I jumped at the chance. The trek was superbly agonised and the food was amazing! I wouldn't say it was easy for a 54 year old but my son and the group and guide we were with kept me going. Worth every day of waking up at 4:45am with a cup of cocoa tea delivered to you! Our guide, Felix, was so knowledgeable about all the history, land and culture so we were well educated along every step of the way. We had the add-ons, with the poles, sleeping bags and the extra day hike to Rainbow Mountain. Totally recommend it to anyone that wants to do it in style and enjoy it!

Lenin from Viator provided lots of miscommunications about Machu Picchu. This included timing of entrance (2 hours later than expected), drop off time (6 hours later than expected), the name of our tour person (no signage or pick up was done, when it was promised), drop off location of the hotel (was dropped off at the City Plaza instead at 1:30 am), and pick-up for the hotel to the airport (car service never arrived, and we took an uber instead). We confirmed all timing with Lenin the day before and even re-confirm the pick-up for the airport the day before. When we complained to Viator, they brushed it off and provided a $20 reimbursement for the taxis and ubers needed in lieu of their pick up, but for seem to have little disregard to the delays and miscommunications of Lenin. We also had a hard time getting a hold of Lenin. He told us to reach out via cell phone/text, and out of 8+ calls, he only called back once. This would have been rated 1 (terrible), if the other two days (City Tour (Sacsayhuaman) and the Sacred Valley) did not go as communicated. Book at your own risk. Would not recommend.
