Will Rogers Memorial Museum

Memorial museum and resting place for the American icon.

Reviewed By kes1639 - Bristow, Virginia

Excellent museum about the life of Will Rogers. Hard to believe the museum was built in the late 1930s following his death. Many people, especially the millennials, might not have an idea who Will was but they may know many of his phrases that he made famous. Museum is well put together and the rooms flow easily. We were a bit pressed for time so didn't get to see any of the presentations in the theaters. The docents were all very helpful and nice and will give you a private tour if you want. Definitely worth a stop.

We arrived at the JM Davis Museum when it opened Andrew met by a volunteer Who provided maps and answers to many of our questions. This is a fantastic collection which was amassed by one individual and donated to the state of Oklahoma and it...MoreWe are glad you included the J.M. Davis Museum in your Route 66 trip. Thank you for the kind review. Please come back soon.

Belvidere Mansion

Reviewed By Morgalla - Tulsa, Oklahoma

While the house itself is fascinating in its own right for the architecture alone, we enjoy the gift shop and restaurant. They have an excellent lunch menu with an extensive hot tea selection, served in adorable individual tea pots. They have rooms you can reserve for a little girl's tea party or baby shower and a real ballroom on the third floor (no elevators though). It's owned by the local historical society and is still being restored. There was a ramp for wheelchairs out front to access the restaurant and gift shop which are on the first floor, but there are only stairs to access the second and third floors. If you can do stairs it's definitely worth a look up there to see the bedrooms and ballroom. We were made to feel very welcome and allowed to look around the entire house except the kitchen (it's a commercial kitchen) which is furnished with gorgeous Victorian era antiques. The place is run by volunteers who obviously spend a lot of time and effort trying to share the history of the house and help visitors enjoy themselves. They were in the middle of taking Christmas decor down (the whole mansion is decorated for each season) so it was a little chaotic, but we could still see everything. There are "before" pictures of how the mansion looked before the historical society restored it in photo albums. It's amazing the transformation! They have fundraisers and murder mystery plays several times a year to afford the improvements. The food is excellent and so reasonably priced for what we got. Highly recommend for a nice lunch with friends in an upscale atmosphere. Reservations aren't usually needed unless you bring a big group. If you call ahead they can get a volunteer to give a guided tour, but even the waitresses know a lot about the history if you just ask them. It's a great way to pass the time if your husband wants to go to the gun museum!

Claremore Lake

Claremore lake is more of a reservoir than a lake. However, it is well maintained and they hold fun events there. No swimming is allowed and the bathrooms are somewhat clean but the layout is awful. They do allow fishing and have an indoor fishing area.

The Nut House

The Nut House first opened over 40 years ago selling only native pecans. Since that time the business has grown into a full time endeavor serving individual customers and businesses with nuts, fudge, confectionery treats and gifts. We operate out of a log cabin, built with pecan wood, which was originally constructed to house the pecan cracking operation. We also serve deli sandwiches, soups and sell the finest deli meats and cheeses. We pride ourselves on our selection, quality and excellent customer service. We enjoy people and want their experience with us to be fun. We hope your online experience will be just as pleasant. Take a few minutes to discover the many flavorful delights available to you.

I have been to the Nut House many times. They do have a week long Festival on the grounds in the Fall with many vendors and music. That is fun and is festive. Other than that, it is a very average tourist "stop" along old Route 66. They have the typical stuff...a deli counter, good homemade fudge (this is better than average!), coffees, Oklahoma nick nacs, jams jellies, and yes, of course...local pecans...and on and on...

We had been working hard outside at our home and wanted a little drive and lunch. We had no idea that yesterday was the special lunch buffet. Brisket, okra, beans, salad, coleslaw, cornbread and a drink!! Nice surprise. We were too full to play the slots long but long enough I left $550.00 ahead!!!!

My wife and I were vendors at the Scissortail Wine Festival. This event was held at the Claremore Expo Center. A number of events are held at this facility throughout the year and we look forward to returning to attend events in the future. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount o restroom space. This place is geared to hold events with a lot of people.

Swan Bros. Dairy

When we arrived here, we were surprised to see they only had one small cooler display of cheese for sale. It's a very small store. We were disappointed there were no cows being milked or cows anywhere.

However, we bought some cheese. The cheese curds are EXCELLENT! Especially the bacon cheddar cheese curds! The hot pepper curds weren't hot at all, we couldn't really taste any peppers.

They also sell RAW milk & RAW cheese for people wanting raw dairy. So both raw and pasteurized milk & cheese is sold here.

Redbud Bay

Reviewed By TheDeadVWBus - Tulsa, Oklahoma

Redbud Bay Marina has everything you would expect to have at a marina- boat rentals, gas, food, service, and it is the ONLY marina on Oologah Lake in Oklahoma.

We enjoy the ice cream and pizza on the dock in the summer time and the people are friendly.

Oologah Lake itself is one of the top sailing destinations in Oklahoma and the south end of the lake has plenty of recreation opportunities.

Redbud also offers cabins and rv sites for rent and we saw a lot of stand up paddle board renters out having fun on the water.
