What to do and see in Ciutat Vella (Old Town), Catalonia: The Best Farmers Markets

January 16, 2022 Leonardo Torrence

Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

Love this Mercat, not as large as La Boqueria on la rambles but has everything you need. Colorful vegetables, great cheeses and olives and you can find a wonderful selection of jamon. Also, great neighborhood and the restaurants outside use food from the mercat.

Mercat De Sant Antoni

I have visited Barcelona many times and had no idea this Market existed, more affordable prices than the more tourist most visited in the Ramblas, I would say 25-30% cheaper and less crowded. Very easy to get there metro L2 and get off at Sant Antoni stop, can’t miss the building. Nice area also to walk around.
