Nusa Kambangan Island

Reviewed By Zach D - Norman, OK

There are some really cool ruins that you can explore on foot (take a flashlight!), and some beautiful secluded Beaches. The Beaches are covered in crabs, shells, and coral. Not great for laying in the sand, but nevertheless, very beautiful, and enjoyable for those who love nature.

Teluk Penyu Beach

Cilacap blessed with a long shore line
But seems the authority just neglected its potential
From years to years i visited this beach
There's no improvement, whether from its facilities, cleanliness
Such a shame, such a great potential, just left ignored ..
The retribution still taken though for every visitors
But the beach we visited looks very dirty, water smell stinks
We pay for nothing at all

Fort Pendem

Reviewed By Yoga W - Jakarta

Tiny island of Nusakambangan is such an interesting place, not because of its spectacular beauty, but of its history as a prisoner island, its stony but attractive Beaches and ....one gloomy fortress named Benteng Pendem ( Benteng : Fortress, Pendem : Buried ).
The fortress is situated in Teluk Penyu ( Tortoise Beach ), built in 1861 by Nederlands Indie government, completed 18 years later. The fortress rediscovered in 1986 after buried in decades. The fortress is designed to face beach. The park is slightly spoiled by ugly dinosaurs statues and other additional, but overall it's a worthy visit.
A must visit if you are in Cilacap, strongly recommended if you rent a car + driver who knows the way to reach the place. Hot and humid, therefore it is best to wear casual dress and hat. Bring your DSLR along if possible. Charge applies.

Widarapayung Beach

I visited this beach when idul fitri holiday came. The beach was soooo crowded with people, and the beach was very dirty. Many garbage around. People should have more awareness to keep environment clean. The wave was good, quite big. But i can't enjoy the sand, although my little nephew enjoyed it much swimming at the pool.

St Stepahnus' Catholic Church

Reviewed By KhalidfromBahrain - Manama, Bahrain

Located in the center if Cilacap, this is a nice stopover for a short visit. Unfortunately the church was closed when we passed by and noone was around to entertain our trip there.
Still its located in a relatively quiet part of town (Cilacap is quiet anyway, no traffic jams and horns), so am sure during times of worship, its a charming place to visit.
Worth a quick look around.
