Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams

Reviewed By krishnamacharis - Singapore, Singapore

Tirupathi is the town at the ground level while Tirumala, the temple town is on TOP of the seven hills. Hindus worship this God after standing several hours in queue because everyday over 100,000 people come to have dharshan of this Lord Balaji also known as Lord Venkateshwara. The temple authorities have mastered the art of crowd management and provide enough food, water and shelter before during and after dharshan. The temple authority runs a transport system for passengers to go up the hill and return to base Tirupathi.

Kapila Theertham

Reviewed By GREEDYPIG66 - Mumbai, India

The temple stands at the entrance to a mountain cave in one of the steep and vertical faces at the foot of the Tirumala hills which are part of Seshachalam Hills, where the waters of the mountain stream fall directly into Temple Pushkarini known as "Kapila Theertham". A huge stone statue of a seated bull "Nandhi", Shiva's steed, greets devotees and passersby at the entrance to the temple. During 'Kartika' month on the occasion of its "mukkoti" on the 'Purnima' (full moon) day, all the teerthas situated in the three world's merge into this Kapila Teertham at noon for ten 'Ghatikas' (one ghatika is equivalent to 24 minutes) It is believed that persons bathing in it at that auspicious time will attain Moksha (salvation) from the cycle of birth and death !

Horsley Hills

Reviewed By AkashMaurya - Bengaluru, India

We traveled to Horsley Hils from Bangalore. After doing some research on Google we found the it can be done in 1 day. We started our journey from Bangalore early morning at 5 AM and we were able to reach there at 10 AM which includes 2 tea breaks. As soon as we reached we head towards the Horslay hills zoo cum garden. The entry ticket was Rs.10 and were able to see all the points in just 2 hours. There is a restaurant in the zoo area which a small but impressively servers good local food. We had lunch and then head towards view point which is not even 1 km from zoo. Entry is free to the view point and 1 more hour can be spent during good weather. We started head back to Bangalore at 4 PM and reached Bangalore by 8 PM. I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway from Bangalore. One can stay for a night for peaceful weekend or just a day visit will be enough to explore this place. This is not a crowed place so if you are looking for a peaceful location to spend a weekend in some isolation give a visit to this place .
