What to do and see in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province: The Best Sports Camps & Clinics

June 7, 2021 Misti Hsu

You could spend your whole Chiang Mai vacation exploring the famous Night Bazaar. Once you’ve exhausted the art of the cheerful haggle, however, there’s plenty more to explore. The National Museum and Botanic Garden are great places to soak up some local culture and to breathe in the delicate fragrance of Thai orchids. In the city’s center, the remains of ancient walls embrace over 30 temples. Limber travelers can climb 300 stairs to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, an ornate Buddhist temple in the hills.

4 hours a day training - 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, sweating like you’ve never sweat before, and discovering the art of Muay Thai is what Por Silaphai offers. Training: Every session starts with stretching and ends with a cool down and in between you have running, pad work, weight training, sparring - which alternate from day to day. You will see people of all levels - from seasoned fighters to fit people going into Muay Thai for the first time to people that want to lose weight or become fit. Pad work is especially helpful as you change trainers each time, and each trainer has their own speciality - one focuses more on power, one on technique, one on combos. Sparring can be intense or soft depending on what level you are at. Every Saturday morning the gym takes the group somewhere else to train - it could be a run in the mountains, a lift to a park with weight equipment, or to the old city to run around. Aftwerards the team heads out all together to have breakfast. Location: a bit off from the old city, but still reachable even by walk - a nice balance between off the touristy part of town, yet close enough if you want to head there. I found everything I needed within a 5 minute walk radius - groceries, restaurants, massage, laundry, cafe. Facilities: The dorms provided by the gym are minimal, but at the same time have everything that I needed. There’s options for mixed dorms, private room, or private twin. I shared a twin room with my girlfriend and we found the room quite spacious and it had an AC and balcony. Environment: Not to mention the people around would be a huge omission. The environment around the gym and the trainings really bonds people together and sharing this experience really creates friends. The owner, Sit, is very accommodating and very fun to train with. This was a great experience for me, and I’m really happy that I spent my time at Pro Silaphai!

I'm not a sporty girl.. not at all.. and for me is not easy to find a good workout that fits with my basic level of fitness. I tried this amazing "fitness kickboxing course" Core Combat Chiang Mai and it was definitely the best choice about working out since I'm here in Chiang Mai! I have a lot of fun, I improve myself (little by little), I spend great time with smiley friends.. I love it!!! And coach Jamie is really able to make you work hard without loosing your smile (well.. in 95% of the lesson time ????) Really suggested for everyone! Many thanks
