We booked a tasting at Vignobles Mayard as there were 13 of us on a visit from the Var region. The tasting hostess was friendly and welcoming and spoke excellent English (I subsequently discovered she is Dutch, but multi-lingual with it). We tasted six different red wines, ranging in price from just E12 to well over E30 per bottle, all of them extremely palatable. Having done many wine-tasting trips in the south of France, this was our first foray into Chateauneuf du Pape and it was considerably different from other regions, as well-explained by the hostess, who seemed to know her product very well. It was interesting to learn of the process, to be given some tips on how to taste properly, and what type of taste/smell we should be looking for. All in all a really excellent experience.

We visited just this past week and had a great time on the vineyard. This place had been recommended by a friend who had been there before and recommended doing a tasting there. Our guide Claire took us through the grounds, and walked us into the cellar and explain their techniques and different areas, and then talked with us through the tasting, explaining the different years and vintages. She was very personable and very open to our questions, as we are beginners in terms of wine. We would definitely go back next time we are in the Provence area.

We had a fantastic visit to Le Pavillion. Showed up on bikes and it seemed quite quiet but one of the guys from there welcomed us in and said we could take the bikes right up. The shop itself is very clean with lots of interesting products on offer. We asked for a tasting and the guide very kindly invited us to join a little french your she was doing and offered to speak in both french and then English. She was engaging and very informative - we learned so much about the region and tasting and loved some of the humour she added. We didn’t feel pressured to buy anything and we’re fortunate enough to try 3 reds and a sweet white. The wines improved as we went through the range but the overall experience was just great!!

We were recommended Domaine Ogier after our first choice had to cancel last minute, with an assurance that an appointment wasn't necessary. We took the advice and dropped in at around 11:30am where a group were already having a tasting session. We were greeted by Christina, who invited us to peruse their selection of wines whilst we waited for the group to finish. We didn't feel like we were being rushed at all, and had plenty of time to browse the wine selection, as well as read about the different soil composition used for growing different wines. When we were ready to begin, Christina had set out two wine glasses for us to start tasting. She had selected a range of their wines, including two Chateauneuf du Pape (CdP) reds, a white CdP and a Gigondas. During the process, she explained the significance of the A.O.C. and how the restrictions help ensure the quality of the wine, as well as how CdP have changed over time. Christina was very informative and engaging throughout and we didn't feel pressured into making a purchase. We were surprised to enjoy the white CdP so much that we went for a bottle of the Clos De L'Oratoire du Papes Blanc 2016. If you'd like a professional, but lighthearted and informative tasting session whilst in CdP, I would highly recommend paying Domaine Ogier a visit.
