What to do and see in Central Business District, New South Wales: The Best Room Escape Games

October 28, 2021 Terina Blouin

Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

Ice break escape room was super fun! The story was cute (Silent escape room), the riddles/puzzles were challenging but solvable and if you get stuck you get a clue :-) The decor was really cool (sort of dark & magical, which suits the story). If you struggle with night vision you may want to try one of the other rooms (I haven't done them yet, so don't know what they are like) as it is quite dark in "Silent".

Lots of laughs with friends playing through the Cosmos adventure. The problem solving was decently challenging, and the experience very immersive - though a little bit short for the group of us. This was fine though, the attendee let us play through a shooter game in the foyer for the remainder of our booked session. Also, the complementary tea and coffee was a really nice touch.

My boyfriend and I received this as a Christmas present and finally got to use it. It was easy to find and the staff were very friendly! The beginning tutorial was easy to follow and understand. We did the secret service mission, it was good for just the 2 of us, lots of fun and we escaped with 21 minutes to spare! I would definitely go back and try and different room. Something different to do and good value for money.

The Enigma Room

The Enigma Room is Sydney's most innovative independent escape room venue. Suited for small groups of 2-6 people, you and your team will be given a back story that includes an objective, and you will only have 60 minutes to complete your mission and escape the room by working as a team to solve a series of puzzles that will test your logic, lateral thinking and ingenuity.

Escape Room: "A Temporal Tangle" By: The Enigma Room Location: Sydney Last played: June 27, 2020 Escaped: Yes, but 2-3 minutes overtime. So no. Description: The Future Directions Bureau sent their top agent (code name Fox) on a crucial mission in the 21st century to preserve the timeline. However, Agent Fox has now disappeared from the time stream. Enemy action is suspected - it’s up to you to trace his whereabouts and save the future. Creativity of puzzles: 8 out of 10 Atmosphere: 4 out of 10 Difficulty: 7 out of 10 Fun: 9 out of 10 My tip: You gotta rearrange them in a sort which you think will make sense.” Comments: The theme of the escape room (time-travel) doesn’t match that well with the atmosphere inside the room. But this is the most jampacked escape room I have experienced when it comes to the number of puzzles so far, and I had fun trying to solve all of them. Though many, the puzzles are also really feasible to solve by an average guy if he really tries to think them through. So somehow, its puzzles are above average when it comes to difficulty. There won’t be any situation you’ll get stuck too long in one puzzle because the moderator is messaging you to help you using the provided iPad device in the room. The escape room doesn’t have a built-in countdown timer, so you have to look at your iPad device every time-check. The room is narrative-heavy. I didn’t get the story that much when we get through the puzzles (the puzzles have in-story texts) because I was too focused on the clues. That’s why the ending was kind of fuzzy. Feel free to consume your time understanding the story while in the game. But regardless of fuzziness, the ending was kinda cheesy as well.

In the average escape room or escape game, people are locked in a themed and decorated room and have to find keys, decode clues, and solve puzzles in order to "escape the room" before their time runs out. Usually, participants have 60 minutes to escape. The puzzles inside each room are different, but usually consist of logic puzzles, riddles, and even physical challenges.
