We had a wonderful one hour trail ride with Kailie. What set this ride apart was the path we went on-- it was quite hilly, narrow, and full of beautiful scenery, one of the more interesting trails that I have done on a beginner recreational ride. I also enjoyed learning about the horses that we were riding-- we learned some silly and interesting facts about them. Kailie was lovely to chat with in general. We had a small group and it did not feel like a "factory" although it was a busy period!

My mother and I have been riding together since I was a small child and we decided to book a ride with Russ while we were in town. It was one of the best we have ever had! Russ is incredibly friendly, the scenery is beautiful, and his horses are well taken care of. Definitely recommend going with Trailhead Ranch if you are looking to ride.

Spur Cross Ranch

Reviewed By 57gwenc - Prescott, United States

This area displays the Sonoran Desert at its finest! The trails are wide and clearly marked. We hiked the Spur Cross to Dragonfly Trails. These take you across the Flowing Cave Creek on a wooden plant bridge, from the desert to the mountains with awesome views, through a saguaro forest, past petroglyphs , down to along a riverbed ( dry at this time of year) past an old mine tunnel and back up to a large dirt parking area approx 3.5 miles. There are many hiking trails and you can add to the length of your hike should you want to. The conservation area is staffed by volunteers who are extremely friendly and helpful. For $3 each they provide you with a trail map. If you’ve already paid to visit Cave Creek Regional Park or are camping there you don’t need to pay the fee. It is an amazingly beautiful area and we look forward to returning next year perhaps toward the end of February in hopes of seeing the desert wildflowers in full bloom.

Cave Creek Museum

The museum is CLOSED for the summer and will reopen on October 1st. The Museum’s interior exhibits are located in four areas: Central Ansbaugh Auditorium, the Archaeology Wing, the Pioneer Wing and the “Mini-wing.” Exiting the building through the mini-wing, you will find outdoor exhibits that include ranch implements and other large tools, the gazebo, the first church of Cave Creek and the last known original Tubercular Cabin in Arizona, which is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. North of the front steps, find the miner’s arrastre, an authentic, recovered mill for crushing ore. At the front entry, explore the desert garden with plants identified. The Museum Store is conveniently located between the Ansbaugh Auditorium and the Archaeology Wing, offering unique Arizona gifts and an extensive selection of books that capture life in the Southwest. Photography for personal memories are acceptable without a flash.
