A tiny hilltop that most people outside of France probably haven’t heard of. But in 2018 Cassel shot to fame when it won the country's favourite village award. Situated at the top of Mont Cassel, it is often labelled as the Everest of French Flanders. Standing since the Roman era, this sleepy little town sparks to life during its annual carnivals - Easter Monday and Mardi Grass.
