Cueva Ventana

Cueva Ventana sits atop a limestone cliff in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. This cave located in the town of Arecibo holds one of the most beautiful sights of the island. To reach the stunning view, there is a bit of a hike to get to the opening of the cave.

Did an early tour (90 min) and had a great time with our guide Misael. He did a wonderful job of doing everything in English and Spanish. Even if he spoke Spanish to others he would explain their question and tell us what he said in English. This was nice because it was usually about things we wanted to know as well. Learning about the caves and bats was good, but of course the “window” and photos with that were fantastic! He gave us plenty of time to take all the photos we wanted. Tips: wear closed shoes (uneven ground, rocks and stairs), hair a way that a hard hat will be comfortable, and take good camera.

Who would have thought that these two caves, renowned in folklore as the site where two lovers burst through rock and into heaven, would be so dark, damp, gritty and full of bats?

One of the parks other highlights include the Quadirikiri Cavern where you walk through two large chambers (minding the occasional flying bat) to an opening in the cavern ceiling allowing light in.

We enjoy visiting caves wherever we travel, but this one was a new experience for us. Crystal Cave has a floating bridge that you walk on to explore the cave. Very cool! We opted to take both tours, and are glad we did. Each has it's own uniqueness and beauty. Just know that there are lots of steps in each.

Animal Flower Cave

NOTE : THE CAVE IS A NATURAL SEA CAVE - IT IS SLIPPERY, IT IS WET, IT IS A SEA CAVE. WE DO SEND A GUIDE WITH EACH TOUR TO AIDE PEOPLE AS NEEDED. WE DO ADVISE THE ELDERLY AND THOSE NOT FIRM ON THEIR FEET TO STAY 'UP TOP'AND ENJOY THE SCENERY AND MAYBE A RUM PUNCH OR TWO! A Natural Wonder of Barbados not to be missed. Located at the most northerly tip of the Island is the Animal Flowr Cave where the coastal scenery is spectacular. The cave got its name from the tube worms that are found in its many rock pools, these are seasonal however so not always in residence, regardless the cave itself is still well worth a visit. You can even swim inside the largest rock pool inside the cave which a fantastic adventure all by itself. Make sure you bring your swim wear and towels. The views from the naturally formed windows out to the ocean are fabulous so bring your camera too. There is now a new restaurant on site and seating area with panoramic sea views, there is a children's playpark too so plan to spend some time with us enjoying the cool sea breezes and the fabulous views that we love to share with you all. This was just amazing! You have to visit the animal flower caves if you're in Barbados. One of the only places to go cave swimming on the island. The views out of the cave "windows" of the Atlantic ocean meeting the Caribbean sea are breathtaking, and who could pass up the opportunity to jump into a 10ft deep natural pool! Note that access is somewhat challenging, several steep stairs down into the cave, and once inside the ground is rocky and very slippery. The guides recommended proper shoes/trainers rather than flip flops, and to take as little baggage with you as there is a risk you could slip on the rocks. The caves here unlike Harrison are not mobility friendly and would be unsuitable for very young children that need to be carried.

If you go the island and you don't go here, you haven't fully experienced the beauty of this place! I hiked between each spot rather than drive, and although not easy, totally worth being away from people and truly connecting with nature! The sound of the waves crashing and the spray of mist against my skin are memories that will last a lifetime!

This fantastic underwater cave was used in the filming of two James Bond movies and is a must-see for divers and snorkelers.

The best way to see Thunderball Grotto is if you stay at Staniel Cay Yacht Club which is very close by as you can then visit when the tour boats are not present. Very fun swim through and great snorkeling on the one side of the Grotto entry

The Bluff

Bat colonies and deep caves, used by island residents for shelter during storms, are the beckoning features of this limestone crag that rises 140 feet above the sea at Cayman Brac's eastern tip.

Reviewed By mcgray2018 - Winnipeg, Canada

Walking/hiking here was excellent, along the rocky beach seeing so much with the water, the bluff and the rock formations.
