What to do and see in Cape Town Central, Western Cape: The Best Cooking Classes

November 28, 2021 Trinity Boughner

Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

The Bo-Kaap Cooking Tour

The Bo-Kaap Cooking Tour takes you on a voyage into the life, food and culture of the Cape Malay's in Bo-Kaap whilst offering you a hands-on, practical lesson on how to cook like a real Cape Malay 'Auntie'! Learn how to fold Samoosa's, make Rootis and Dhaltjies (Chili Bites) and mix Masala for that perfect pot of Cape Malay Curry!

Reviewed By sc0ttie2007 - Perth and Kinross, United Kingdom

After a very informative tour and history of the Bo-Kaap area, and visit to the spice shop, we had great fun learning about the Cape Malay cuisine in the very capable hands of Zayed and Zainie. Our efforts to make samosas, dhaltjies, rooti and curry were encouraged, even when they did not quite come up to the standards of our generous hosts! And the best bit - we got to eat it afterwards. We would recommend this tour to any visitors to Cape Town.
