Canberra Metro

Reviewed By allthingsclassy - Brisbane, Australia

The Metro or Light Rail as some call it was opened in April 19. It runs for 12kms to the City with 13 stops along the way. You can buy tickets on the station or use a card. It operates on a tap and go system. You tap on and off on the platform not the train. Ticket Inspectors do ride the train and do check tickets. There is Seniors discount available and day passes We were from Brisbane and were staying at the Canberra Rex Hotel. There was a tram stop across the road from the hotel called Ipima St. 2 stops and you were in the city centre, about a 5 minute ride.. The metro finishes at Alinga St. We used this tram/metro 7 times during our 5 day stay as there was culture festival on while we were there. Great way to get to the City without paying for parking.

my daughter and I travelled by this coach line to visit Thredbo for a day visit, the comfort of the coach was excellent and our driver Stephen did a great job we left at 5am for a 2hr 30 minute trip up the mountain..the driver had to stop to put on chains and this made our journey very safe in the snowy conditions..at all times we were advised of condition ahead.. our driver was courteous and helpful at all times, especially on arrival at the car park, to show us all our different paths..the trip home was slow, due to heavy traffic leaving the area of a Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm..I thanked our driver at the end of the day, but was sad he was not thanked by others for the trip that he had made up and back and keeping us all safe...with thanks to Murrays Coaches.... I will recommend them to others travelling to Canberra..my visit was on 12th August.

NSW TrainLink

Reviewed By Bartonbears - Coffs Harbour, Australia

We've just enjoyed our second train trip from Coffs Harbour to Sydney. The trip, which takes about 6 hours by car, takes a whopping 9 hours in the train. However, we've enjoyed both trips immensely. We chose to pay extra for First Class and feel that the extra space is well worth the cost. It is lovely to watch the countryside slipping past and to have no care or responsibility that driving a car would demand. Flying would be cheaper so we normally travel by air but not needing to be at our destination in a hurry, we loved the train experience with the journey divided into time segments by breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea - all from the Buffet Car with its very friendly staff. One of us managed to read most of a book on the journey while the other was transfixed by the changing scenery. We'll be doing the trip again next year and recommend it to anyone with time on their hands and not needing to drive a car in Sydney.

Great service, plenty of buses with timetables on all stops, comfortable seats, friendly drivers. I purchased a daily pass which allowed bus & tram transport around the city & to the airport, for $9.60 well worth it< a shout out to the driver on the airport bus he said goodbye at every stop to the departing passengers, I know Canberra is a small capital city unless he personally knew everyone a great service
