From Alberta’s southwestern border north into British Columbia, the Canadian Rockies are a network of provincial and national parks that collectively make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Banff and Jasper national parks are connected by the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Jasper SkyTram is the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada. This family trip offers incredible views of six different mountain ranges, turquoise-coloured lakes, glacier-fed rivers and the town of Jasper. Gain a new perspective on Jasper National Park, the largest park in the UNESCO Canadian Rockies World Heritage Site. Watch for wildlife below as you gently climb towards the upper station located at 7,425 feet (2,263 meters). A knowledgeable guide will accompany you on your 7.5 minute flight, sharing a few insights about the area, its history and the diversity of nature surrounding you. Stroll along the interpretive boardwalk or try hiking the 1.4 km trail to the summit of Whistlers Mountain at 8,081 feet (2,463 meters). Make sure to stop at the Summit Restaurant for a meal at the top of the Canadian Rockies and visit the gift shops at the upper or lower stations for a souvenir to take home. From March to early May, rent snowshoes at the top for a unique experience.
This was my favorite of the 2 gondola/sky trams we took up to the mountains. Banff gondola, Lake Louise gondola & Jasper Sky Tram. the scenery was fantastic at the top, you could see the entire valley, the town of Jasper and Whistler etc. Once there you could hike up to the top of the mountain or just sit on rocks taking in the scenery.

This is a moderate hike that is best enjoyed when the weather is cooler to avoid the mosquitoes. I did this hike in July and it was great, but would have been more enjoyable if it were done in June or September. The views are stunning. I was disappointed in the litter, especially cigarette butts that I saw along the path. Travelers should be more respectful of our National Parks!

The Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre is a destination in itself. The newly-renovated facility features the world-famous Glacier Adventure, Glacier View Inn, restaurants, shopping and the Glacier Gallery interpretive exhibit. The Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre also offers ample parking and is the departure point for free shuttles that take visitors to and from the new Glacier Skywalk.
We visited as part of our epic RV trek round BC. It was a bit cloudy and rainy but nothing could dampen the experience. It absolutely blows your mind - the scale, the view, the whole magnitude of the event. We are travelling with a 7 and 2 year old and it was perfect for them. The cost is not extortionate and it was good value for money. We did both the glacier experience and also the skywalk, over the course of about 3 hours. No rush and took our time The staff were brilliant, but special mention to Elliott who was our driver and guide in the snow truck. Funny, informative and made the kids feel a million dollars. A top man doing a top job. Advice - we got there early(ish) and it made a difference in terms of wait times, queue times and how busy the ice field was. Worth it. FYI - the drive there is also something else. Simply brilliant. Memories for life, for many reasons. You won’t be disappointed.

Go beyond nature's edge and immerse yourself in an awe-inspiring interpretive experience in one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. Explore the immense powers of glaciology from a fully-accessible, cliff-edge walkway that leads to a glass-floored observation platform 918 feet(280 metres) above the Sunwapta Valley.
Part of our tour allowed us to walk on the Skywalk. Even for someone slightly afraid of heights, it was awesome to see the scenery and walk on a glass floor.
