If you are into tanks this museum is a must when in the area. This is a living museum where all the vehicles are operational. So on any given Saturday they hold a tank day based on a different theme and do reenactments. The best one is the Aquino weekend in June their biggest show of the year. They have an interesting small museum with the history of the Ontario Regiment and with the large expansion just completed there is lots to see! They continually add vehicles to the mix including new WW II German armour. An absolute must for Tank and military buffs....

I was dubious, but decided to be open minded and I’m glad I was. This is a small museum featuring modern armament/guns, displayed in the basement of a beautiful building. The gorgeous display cases and intelligently displayed pieces completely intrigued us for 90 minutes...even though I don’t understand the fascination people have with weapons. The real attraction was the founder and our guide, Jacques. He was so darn personable and spoke with such thoughtful authority on a subject that has massive financial, economic, cultural and emotional repercussions...I loved the opportunity to learn and see so much. Fantastic experience for everyone.

A 900 square foot building, that once was the MP shack, the museum is located to the south side of Patricia Way when entering the camp via way a RV Papa. The Museum was created in conjunction with the Cadet Training Center and the Vernon Museum to assist in the presentation and education of the Cadet Program in Canada as well as the history of the Vernon Military Camp.

Between May and October, the Citadel is brought to life by two historic regiments of the British Army - the pageantry of the 78th Highlanders and the precision of the Royal Artillery thrill visitors daily with live re-enactments. The skirl of the bagpipes mixes with the crack of a rifle and the assembly of recruits for the next foot drill. There's no shortage of authentic experiences to view and participate in! Kids will love the Xplorers Program - an activity book just for them. When the sun sets, it's time to experience the other side of the Citadel - join the Citadel Ghost Walk and experience the dark and errie lore from the early 1800's. Tours start mid-July and run every Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30pm until the end of October. Cash at the front gate.

I visited the Citadel as a solo traveller. I went on a free guided tour which was very informative and interesting, they have demonstrations throughout the day of shooting the rifles and the canon which goes off at noon. I would advise people to visit in the morning to make the most of it. They also have many exhibitions you can visit to warm up a bit of the weather is poor. The whole site is well maintained and all of the staff are in traditional costume which is really cool.

This museum has some of the most beautiful ship models, sailboats of unique designs from the Maritime region and artifacts of the wrecks so abundant on the shoreline of Nova Scotia. And to add to this is actual artifacts from the Titanic! Including an actual deck chair. Great displays and fund for the whole family

I spent the better part of 4 hours here visiting the numerous rooms depicting Canada's Military History, watching several short videos, and looking at the 3 dozen or so collection on military vehicles and weapons. This is a must see place in Ottawa when you are there. There is also a nice gift shop for souvenirs.

Great place to learn more about the British experience in the War of 1812! Musicians, "troops" drilling in period costume, cannons, one original building and plenty of other realistically reconstructed buildings with detailed histories. Don't miss the musket firing drill! Kids loved it.

We returned to the Citadelle with visitors from Chile! They were mesmerized by the outstanding( as always) Changing of the Guard ceremony presented daily at 10:30, weather permitting, during the spring-fall months. BatisseXII, regimental mascot, a goat from the Royal herd, joined his regiment on parade. The ceremony lasts about 35 min, is conducted in French, the language of the Royal22nd( VanDoo’s) Regiment, and is easy to follow due to bilingual commentary offered by a Commentator. The tickets may be bought on site or reserved on the Web. Site for this attraction. Free to active\ retired military with I.D. and immediate family. Suggest...go early to get a seat, better near the speaker’s podium. May remain for photos with the Mascot and his keeper. Very interesting tours and self guided tours of the area. Washrooms on premise, souvenir sales, some refreshments. Medals donated to the Regiment by former members are displayed in a special room and are most impressive for anyone with a knowledge of Canadian military history. Our S.American friends were most pleased with their visit to the Citadelle. Very limited parking in the area, suggest walking up to the area.
