Douglas Vineyards

Reviewed By TAuser8122020

My wife and I had a few hours without the kids and this is very convenient. It is small but a neat little place. The tastings are $8 and you can add a tray with cheese, pepperoni, crackers and olives for $5. You get to try 6 wines and the categories are about a dozen fruit wines, 3 muscadine wines, a red that is listed by itself, dry wines-a white, Cabernet, Merlot and a Malbec and a white blend and a red blend plus a seasonal wine which was pumpkin spice. Douglas was not there but his wife was fantastic and the young men were as well. They also have wine slushees. The fruit wines are excellent (bought Blackberry) if you like those, the Carlos muscadine (bought) was fantastic and I also bought the Cabernet and Merlot as well. Great experience, phenomenal service (so friendly and after tasting even asked if there were any we wanted to try that we couldn’t). If you are only a high end wine person then maybe not you but for everyone else please visit.

Reed Gold Mine

Who knew all this interesting info about gold and a gold rush in North Carolina?! The 2 docents working in the visitors center on sat Oct 3, 2020 were great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. We watched the intro film first and then went into the mine. We had a beautiful day so spent quite awhile on the self guided tour of the mine and the property. There is a shaded picnic area to take advantage of as well. The historical artifacts housed in the visitors center are eye opening! Wait till you see those and read about them. I can't imagine where they found all this cool stuff. The mine itself is quite far underground so is cold. The thermometer we saw said 47. Bring a sweater or jacket. Please go if you are at all interested as you won't be sorry. I can't imagine working in a mine for 10 or 12 hours a day. Such hard, hard work.

We fell in love with this little diner when we found it in the Depot at Gibson Mill on one of our antiquing treks around town. These guys have got the market hands down on YUMMY things! My fiance loves the Reuben sandwich and it makes my day to get the tuna on rye! OH MY GOSH my mouth is watering now just talking about it! They have loads of other good food, sandwiches, wraps, etc.... you can't go wrong! And the owners are the nicest people you will ever meet!! Check them out! I recommend them 100%!

Gem Theater

The Gem Theatre is a great theatre in downtown Kannapolis that gives you an old school feel while in a giant, newer theatre.
