Buncrana (/ˈbʌn.krænə/; Irish: Bun Cranncha, meaning "foot of the (River) Crana") is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. It is beside Lough Swilly on the Inishowen peninsula, 23 kilometres (14 mi) northwest of Derry and 43 kilometres (27 mi) north of Letterkenny. In the 2016 census, the population was 6,785 making it the second most populous town in County Donegal, after Letterkenny, and the largest in Inishowen.

We spent a lazy afternoon wandering around Sean Park and exploring everything it had to offer.
My imagination ran wild, I could hear the wings of the fairies as they skirted around us, I could feel the nature and positivity as I turned each and every corner.
A great place for adults and kids alike!

This impressive fort was originally built as a Royal Navy position during the Napoleonic Wars. So it’s over 200 years old now and still standing.
It is located on windy roads about 8 miles or so from Buncrana on the Inishowen peninsula. There’s plenty of free parking and the natural views are really impressive.
We spent over an hour going around. On arrival at the reception to pay we were directed into a film that explained the history of the area and it was interesting to find that even after Irish independence and the creation of the state there was an agreement with Britain that its troops would continue to keep operational control of the fort as it was considered strategically significant.
Those days are now long gone. Today the fort is a military museum with fascinating Exhibitions, and many displays about the birds, marine life and coastal vegetation of the area. It has a gift shop, an auditorium and trail walks.
There’s also a nearby coffee shop that serves up savoury & sweet treats, it offers free WiFi and it’s a very pleasant way to relax after a visit to the fort.

We popped in here before driving around the Inishowen Peninsula to obtain a map. Not only we were provided with a map but we received some great tips from the helpful woman behind the counter, as to some interesting sights to see. A visit here is recommended.

Beautiful beach with close to white sands and clear water in Ireland! It was cold when we traveled to this beach but it was still a stunning sight to see. I could imagine this beach being very popular on a nice sunny day. A must see if you go up north in County Donegal.

walking on lisfannon beach is a wonderful experience, fresh air and if it is a stormy day it is great with the wind blowing through your hair and listening to the waves and finding shells.The scenery is magnificient and breath taking.For anyone visting the northwest it is a place to see

This has to be one the best idea's for children and adults alike with the Free Wee Library boxes placed around the Swans Park and the shore path walks, where you can pick up a book on a lazy summers day and relax to the sound of chirping birds or the waves rolling in from Lough Swilly. Well done to all involved in this fantastic project.

This is another beautiful Irish church in a wonderful setting in the northern part of Ireland. This is a very peaceful setting and worth a short stop.
