Nice place for a swim! Great place kids to see some dolphins and see animals. The bay is a nature reserve so be careful where you swim.

Back Beach

Reviewed By JElliot32 - New South Wales, Australia

After all the good reports about Back Beach I had read in TA, I was disappointed when I finally got to see it. In fact, I thought it was a fairly ordinary beach - no surf to speak of and a narrow stretch of sand, much of it covered in seaweed. Didn't spot any dolphins, either, which seemed to be not uncommon thrill for other reviewers. Maybe I just visited on a bad day. Admittedly, it is long - plenty of room to stretch the legs and get away from the crowds (not that that was really an issue when I visited). I expect the sunsets here can be spectacular when the atmospheric conditions are right but unfortunately even that was a bit of a dud during my visit. I expect to be back in Bunbury in 2018 - I look forward to Back Beach putting a better show when I return.

Marlston Hill Lookout Tower

Located right in the middle of the towm, it is easily accessible. Not suitable for mobility challenged persons as it involves a rather steep climb up a flight of circular stairs. But once you reach the top, you get a 360deg panoramic, unobstructed view of the area. Definitely worth a visit.

We found it difficult to find somewhere to park without having to pay parking fees. Surely the council should encourage tourists to come and visit.
Beside this hassle, the lady at the Information centre was friendly and very helpful. She highlighted all the must see places in Bunbury. She gave us the map which made our stay so much easier.

Bunbury Lighthouse Lookout

Reviewed By JElliot32 - New South Wales, Australia

While it is not exactly a 'must-see', the lighthouse certainly catches the eye and is quite easy to spot from various parts of Bunbury, including a good view from Marlston Hill Lookout. If you take a walk from Back Beach to Marlston Hill you'll go straight past it. The lighthouse and its grounds are not accessible to the public but what makes it special is its eye-catching checkerboard paint job.

It’s been just over a year since we visited the Galleries, various displays of paintings and other artworks. Well displayed with the various artists including Bateen Thompson, Sam Beard, Korrine Bennell, Rhonda Moore. In the upper gallery, life size figures on pedestals; elsewhere, art from recycled materials. Nice display from the collection of Lloyd and Elizabeth Horn. I generally like art, but I need to understand what it is that I am viewing so that I can have a better understanding and appreciation of each exhibit.

Leschenault Inlet

Leschenault Inlet is very big and covers a large area, so many different aspects. From Belvedere on the western side, to Australind with its great boat ramp and picnic areas (and shopping centre over the road), to several areas along the road to Eaton to crab or fish, then along estuary drive, another great place to crab, and evenings there are usually food vans there most nights.

Hungry Hollow Beach

Reviewed By isabellelizabeth - Bunbury, Australia

Just south from the main back beach area, this beach is just as beautiful. It is further away from the CBD though - maybe a 4km walk if you're not driving. There are toilets and picnic tables on the road side but no cafes or anything. Nice to get away and have a quieter beach though if that's what you're after.
