What to do and see in Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District: The Best Gift & Specialty Shops

September 18, 2021 Augustus Redeker

The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires' European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city's oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. Latin America's shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

Saw good reviews about this shop and decided to visit it during my stay in Buenos Aires. Staff are nice but would like to specifically mention Sophie - she was very friendly and offered great advise which helped me in my decisions on the jacket! I also met Silvia, the owner and she was the sweetest!! She made sure that I was going to be happy with my jacket She accommodated all my requests as great quality and service are more important to her than just sales - which makes for a great shopping experience! Went back home with a fine customized lambskin black leather jacket! Thanks a lot Silvia! More success to you! :) Will visit you again when I am in BA next time! Gracias!!

I walked by the window of this shop and the purses stuck out! They were each like a work of art. I purchased one and had my picture taken with the shop owner who actually made each purse and hand signed. If you pay in Argentinian Purses you got a discount. I paid with my credit card since most of the ATM's were out of money on a Sunday when it was market day in San Telmo. Great shop...highly recommend it. I would have loved to have shopped for the jewelry the owner's wife made, but just ran out of time!!!

Make it your Candy store, you will forever have the best memories of the whole experience including dealing w Alejandro who shows to be so knowledgeable and passionate about his unique pieces. Facon

One-of-a-kind pieces from independent designers and rural communities A do-good boutique, with high-end gifts and home goods. We love happening on a good shop—tell us about this one. This is a boutique that could only exist in Argentina. The shop, which resides in a Palermo Soho casona, features everything from pottery to rugs to leather bags, all made by local artists, artisans, and independent industrial designers. Best of all, it pulls double-duty as a wine tasting stop: there's a small wine shop in back to assist thirsty shoppers, especially those who are eager to try a curated selection of the vino-rich country’s best labels. The space was also recently remodeled, and introduced Salu, a chef’s kitchen that incorporates cooking classes into its repertoire.
