We have been skiing for 5 years now in Westendorf. This was the first time we have had a private lesson and it definitely wont be the last. His professionalism, relaxed manner and easy to follow advise made a massive difference to our ski experience. The tips he gave to help us made such a difference to our technique. For any ski trips in the future we will definitely be making a booking with him to brush up on any flaws. Best book early though as he is very good and will fill up quickly in season. His English was also fantastic which made the whole experience enjoyable. Highly recommended no matter how advanced you are.

Another children's play area, with tree houses, water features, splash pools, large lake for swimming, 'mud bath', vibrating foot massage feature - you have to experience this, picnic areas, restaurant. The down side is this is an hours walk (albeit a beautifully scenic one) from the middle station at Hochsoll.

The Austrians really know how to keep kids entertained, we found loads of great attractions for children and this was the highlight. Situated in a beautiful spot halfway up a mountain it has loads of water-based features and attractions. Our son loved it and we probably walked a good couple of miles without noticing it. It took a couple of hours or so for us to get round and he could easily have stayed longer. Plenty of nice spots to stop for a picnic.

The place itself is in a peacefull location, facing the Wilde Kaiser mountain. As a ski resort, i can say that it is ideal for those who want to place the kids into the school ski school to learn skiing fast. There are a lot of nice restaurants where to eat between the ski sessions. The view from the top is outstanding, due to the Wilder Kaiser solliness beauty. I will return to this area NexT year.

Hohe Salve

Reviewed By travellingplants - London

We weren't expecting much, but the restaurant at the Hohe Salve summit at the top of the gondola from both Hopfgarten and Soll was stunning. The food was as expected for ski style cafeteria but the fixtures and decoration of the restaurant were lovely. There are large Windows with views to the Valleys below on 3 sides of the restaurant. On the day we visited the staff were very helpful and we didn't feel rushed by them to vacate the table.
Suggest a visit to the toilets. There is the usual Austrian perfect cleanliness and these toilets also have the most incredible views. Large windows with views to the surrounding Mountains. Also fitted out in solid timber doors with a lovely attention to detail.
We visited in June and it was misting rain and quite cold outside so this restaurant was a real surprise and a great way to spend an hour resting our legs after our hike.

We rented our skis here after it was recommended by our hotel. And we can see why they did! Great selection of top notch equipment but the service is what really impressed us. Tom was professional and took care of us like VIP's. The location was also very convenient to the Gondola and they let us store our boots and skis in a heated shed. Highly recommend and would use their services again and again. Thanks for taking such good care of us Tom!

Hintersteinersee

Reviewed By Fabbyholiday - Dunfermline, Scotland

We visited the Hintersteinersee on a warm sunny Sunday. We arrived by the free Seebus from Scheffau and stopped for a beer at the lido and just enjoyed the view. There were a number of people swimming, playing football and soaking up the sun. We continued on the open side of the lake and leisurely walked around the other side of the lake and again stopped for another drink and soaked up the view. The path is very easy to walk and was a little bit busy with traffic. The walk around the other side of the lake is through the trees and therefore no motor vehicles which was very pleasant and a little light relief from the heat of the sun. This walk can be enjoyed by everyone although there are a few steep parts through the trees. You will not be disappointed.

ALPENIGLU Dorf

A dream world of snow and ice, a comprehensive art work amidst the winter wonder land Kitzbuehel alps - that's the ALPENIGLU(R) village which fascinates visitors of the ski resort SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. The white village with its 18 igloos is located near the mountain station Hochbrixen, therefore perfectly accessible for non-skiers as well. It takes only 8 min to get up to the ALPENIGLU(R) village by cable car.

Reviewed By royclarke61 - Cork, Ireland

Located 25 metres from the top of the Brixen gondola sits the Igloo. It's amazing at first sight, outside is a bar serving all drinks with seats and pumping music. Inside are tables + chairs cut out of ice where you can enjoy hot chocolates / Gluewein. We did the tour which cost a €5 ( worth every cent ) they explain the yearly making of the igloo, show you the restaurant, bedrooms, church and kitchen which are all made from snow and ice. The tour took 30min, make sure to it

....take my advice and walk down if the weather is good. It's a fairly quick ride to the top with a reasonably priced restaurant/bar and plenty for children to do in both summer and winter. There is a play area and a lot of activities on offer and the views are spectacular.
We walked down in the August Sunshine and it took us around 2 hours or so. A lovely walk through cool glades with a fantastic restaurant half way down.
