Briarcliff Manor /ˈbraɪərklɪf/ is a suburban village in Westchester County, New York, around 30 miles (50 km) north of New York City. It is on 5.9 square miles (15 km) of land on the east bank of the Hudson River, geographically shared by the towns of Mount Pleasant and Ossining. Briarcliff Manor includes the communities of Scarborough and Chilmark, and is served by the Scarborough station of the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line. A section of the village, including buildings and homes covering 376 acres (152 ha), is part of the Scarborough Historic District and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The village motto is "A Village between Two Rivers", reflecting Briarcliff Manor's location between the Hudson and Pocantico Rivers. Although the Pocantico is the primary boundary between Mount Pleasant and Ossining, since its incorporation the village has spread into Mount Pleasant.

Our guide, Jim, gave such an informative, interesting tour of the mansion. You came away feeling you really got to know a lot about the people who had lived there! Every room was breathtaking in furnishings and decorations for Christmas! This was a perfect time to visit! Even though the mansion is very large, it felt like a home...just lovely!

I took the Kykuit house tour of the home and grounds. I did not expect to see such spectacular views and a Picasso art collection that was so extensive. Our guide, "Merla" was a treasure. She made every room and outdoor view come alive. The weather that day could not be better and the grounds were as interesting as the home. Be sure to go on a day when good weather is predicted. You will be amazed at the sheer beauty of the location as well as the extensive and priceless art collection. What was particularly special was how close you could get to the objects. So much better than any museum.

Time: Visited Sunday mid-September around 4:30. Perfect for natural lighting for the Good Samaritan Chagall window and the Matisse Rose window.
Duration: Seasoned docent delivered a rapid-fire compelling narrative for each window. (15 minutes). Since a large tour group was to arrive, there was no opportunity for questions.
Gift: Purchase postcards or a packet at the back of the church.

We often go to Rockefeller to walk around the lake for our token exercise. There are many trails for those interested in long walks along the well groomed sandy carriage trails. Every one is surrounded by trees or grass. After storms the debris is cleaned up quickly. There are regular events to raise money and volunteers run the office. Seniors can apply for free weekday parking.

Attended an Elvis Tribute Show here by Kevin Mills with his Double Trouble Band & the wonderful Romano sisters, it was unbelievable. Great value for money Kevin was fantastic. & brought Elvis back to life. We had a delicious meal, comfortable seating & a great view. This theatre has many shows throughout the year. Easy access, good parking & facilities. Look forward to seeing Elvis there again!!!

INFESTED with Poison Ivy!
My family and I went with our friends this past weekend.
There are signs all over saying to to climb the trees because of the Poison Ivy. The place is literally crawling with it, you CANNOT walk to the apple trees without walking through poison ivy.
You have to pay for: Parking ($5) Apple Bag ($25) as well as Hayride and Corn Maze.
We left early since they did not have apple cider or donuts to go across the street where we heard they did. And boy were we bummed we went to the "Outhouse" in the first place.
Because just across the street at Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard the parking is free, hayride is free, parking is free, tons of food and activities, live band, animals and no Poison Ivy! Their donuts and pumpkin pie are out of this world. We didn't get to try any of the other food stands since we had already had some microwaved pizza at the toilet..I mean The Outhouse. But they had BBQ places and brick oven pizza as well that looked great.
On a side note, I had to start Prednisone today because; you guessed it, I got poison ivy!

Great place for a walk or longer hike Favorite is the Hidden Valley Trail. Many diverse sections that will make your walk entertaining. Beware of some steep elevation changes Plenty of parking and not particularly crowded, this is definitely a local go to place

We really enjoyed the walk-thru pumpkin blaze! It took us about 45 minutes to walk through with our 1 year old and 3.5 year old! They seemed to enjoy it! Dress warm with hats and gloves as it gets cold; it was about 35 degrees when we went to the 6:30pm time slot on November 12th! Also, get there about 30 minutes early so that you could get the kids in their warm gear! We didn’t use a stroller, but kind of wish we brought one!

Kensico plaza is a nice place to spend an afternoon. Good for a stroll or a bike ride. Lots of free parking, tables and benches for enjoying your lunch. Lots of trees for shade. The plaza features various heritage festivals on summer Sundays.Rain or shine. Every week features an ethnic festival with related cuisine, music and events. We saw a wonderful authentic Mexican dance troupe which featured dancers of all ages. It was wonderful. It is casual so you can bring your own chairs and picnic blankets. Lots of fun for the whole family. Large police presence to ensure your safety.
