What to do and see in Breckenridge, Colorado (CO): The Best Food & Drink

May 3, 2022 Marlin Saiz

Once a mountain mining town decimated and nearly destroyed by river dredging, the surprisingly versatile Breckenridge has bounced back over the last century to become one of Colorado's top year round alpine getaways, with all-seasons activities galore. Restoration of the river area has led to the creation of pristine hiking trails and greenery in the summer months, but winter is the real draw. Skiers flock to the groomed slopes, chutes and bowls of Breckenridge Ski Resort by the million.

We had reservations on a night that a winter storm moved in and roads were shut down. We are so glad that we decided to brave the storm. The staff was terrific and the food was outstanding. Hot ramen on a night like this was outstanding. The ramen bowl was well balanced with noodles and meat so that neither took over the dish. The portions were plentiful and the waiter made sure that our glasses were full. I drink whisky, but not bourbons, and the waiter was well informed on what was in stock and he did a great job in suggesting a local batch that I may like. The desert of salted caramel ice cream with popcorn and chocolate sauce was unbelievable. This is a great place with limited seating so be sure to make reservations but certainly make this a for-sure stop when you’re in Breck. I do echo the opinion of a previous reviewer that the young lady at the register near the door could be more customer friendly.

The wine blending class was interesting & educational. Andy taught us how to identify all the elements of a wine & then guided us in blending our own unique blend. We even got to bottle it & take our bottle home. This was a great experience & an unexpected adventure in Breckenridge.

Took the free shuttle from our lodge to the distillery! The driver was awesome and so accommodating, he picked us up and took us back so convenient! We got to sit at the bar and enjoy one of the best old fashioned’s we’ve had in long time before our tour of the distillery! The tour was nice and informative and the selection for the tasting was perfect. Something for everyone!
