Puente de Boyaca

Reviewed By Halreader - Orlando, United States

A history major like me had a wonderful time at this place, for it is here, during the 19th century, that the liberation from Spain began for what would be the nations of Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and namely, Colombia. My parents were Colombian, and I have lived in Bogota for a few years in my youth, so This battle is of significant importance when learning about the country, and its liberator, Simon Bolivar. The battlefield covers a wide expanse of hill country with statues and monuments, but there is a building near the bridge called "El Ciclorama," a round structure which has the largest mural in South America, and when explained by the local guide, adds color to the rich history of the event held here and, most importantly, the people of Colombia. A great place to visit.

We visited the FIBAS garden on a Saturday morning under the blazing sun. It was a beautiful spiritual oasis in the middle of the desert. Monica and Jimmy are great hosts. We did the maze and visited the garden. The landscaping they have done is beautiful.

First walk into this square is impressive. Huge. Statue of Bolivar in the middle, 3 sides of colonial beauty, hundreds of pigeons, people wandering everywhere. Very picturesque with the hills in 5e background and the every changing weather.
