L'Esperantine de Marseille

The manager was really nice, gentle, and informative. She offered us samples as we walked through the store. Their olives are from South of France (1 hour from Marseille), and they use olive oil in their chocolates instead of milk products. We ended up getting almonds covered with chocolates. Would recommend to anyone who likes chocolates.

Of course there is no shortage of soap shops in Marseille. Very much liked the couple selling soap in this shop. Freindly service and 5 soaps for Euro 10 as well as all kinds of other soaps.

La Cave du Cours Mirabeau

A beautiful wine shop located under the Cours Mirabeau, an exclusive address with a great selection of wine, champagne and spirits. Take a minute to admire the magnificently carved door of the Arbaud-Jouques building before walking down to the wine shop with its vaulted ceilings and old Provencal stones. The best place to buy a bottle of wine to enjoy after a long day of tourism.

We visited on Saturday to get an entry level into Aix Wine. Whilst you may not try much wine it was great for us as a couple talking all things wine and there were some pleasant surprises of the 3 that we tried. We have book it via Viator and I had mistakingly booked the week early before we arrived, so it was kind to be told my tickets were valid the next week no issue. We loved it there so much so we brought a few to drink during our stay. Our lady Justine was kind, knowledgable and friendly. We returned today but she wasn’t there to pick up wines she spoke to us about. It’s lovely to see the various customers come in the shop and buy their regular wines. They stock so many high quality bottles. Clean, beautiful and friendly place. See you next time!

Rose et Marius store and products are incredible. They are the quintessential experience from Provence. Customer service was super warm and professional (they shipped what we brought to our home and took care of VAT reimbursement) We booked “l’Atelier”, an hour + session on fragrances and how to make your own home fragrance, that you walk out with. Totally loved it.

Book In Bar

Une librairie internationale, un espace café, un site internet, des animations autour du livre, des auteurs et des lecteurs. Un lieu unique!

What a delightful discovery i happened upon, in downtown Aix-en-Provence : a small café within a delightful bookstore ! This bookshop is located across from the splendid mansion, Hôtel de Caumont, on Rue Joseph Cabassol. Enter its wooden interior and delight in tomes in both French and English. There are both fiction ( Call Me By Your Name - in English, nonetheless), and non-fiction ( Markets of Provence ; Sights and Scenes of Provence, to name a few) titles. The warmly rich wooden interior calls to mind scenes from a Harry Potter- type movie. There are sections dedicated to university students, as well as other languages etc. In the center of the bookshop, there is a walk-up counter- café , with several types of teas and coffees on order, as well as enticing fresh fruit, cookies and cake slices. Place your order and sit down with a good book ( or a good friend ), and relax. There are several types of seating choices, both on the main floor, the staircase landing, or the upper floor. Choose your spot - your café order will be brought to you momentarily ! What a fabulous way to spend a lazy afternoon !
