What to do and see in Bora Bora, Society Islands: The Best Budget-friendly Things to do

October 2, 2021 Trinity Boughner

Turquoise lagoons, soft white sands, and deep tangerine sunsets set the scene for romance on the island so nice they named it twice. Mingle with tropical fish as you flutter around Coral Gardens or Tupitipiti Point, or relax in a self-driving tour as you take in beautiful views of the once-volcanic Mount Otemanu. At the Lagoonarium you can watch shark feedings and swim with turtles. Cap it all off with a succulent meal at one of the island’s fine French restaurants, then sip a tropical cocktail under the stars.

While in Bora Bora we had the pleasure of receiving a recommendation from a local resident to this Pearl shop. Melanie met us and gave us a nice history and explanation of the location and operation of this family owned Pearl farm and jewelry shop with GIA certification. She was very kind and helpful with great insight to help us find products in our price range with great, honest and experienced guidance for complimenting characteristics for my wife's tones. During the finalization of our transaction she was very clear on instruction and made it very easy for us to complete the customs transaction when leaving the country. Highly recommended to all!

The best place you can go to buy pearls in Bora Bora. Don't get suspicious that they don't have a street store front and they work out of their home back patio. Pierre and his wife are very friendly and kind, actually they came to pick us up at the hotel. When you get there Pierre will ask you what you know about pearls and you can get the best on site class and at the end you will know how to pick and choose what you buy. We have learned a lot from him. And then you realize that the quality they have is much better then the other stores. And most the don't pressure you to buy, which is very important. Grazie mille per la bellissima esperienza Pierre. Max and Laura

Natura Discovery

Discovery of Bora Bora’s hidden interior areasNatura Discovery organizes guided tours to discover the culture, history, legends and the local Polynesian natural environment. We wish to share this experience with overseas visitors and to do so, we have restored a “family” Marae (ancient place of worship), known as Marae Hau Puni, surrounded by an arboretum with medicinal, food plants and herbs for showcasing and sampling. Each district in Bora Bora has its own legends tied to different “Marae” and sacred stones and you will thus be touring from districts to legends...The Ofa’i Honu in the Bay of Povai, the Marae Vaiotaha in Tiipoto, the Marae Hau Puni in the Faanui Valley, the small Pe’a cave in Anau and the sunset on Matira Beach. For a complete island tour, we will make a stop at a strategic viewpoint arranged by the U.S forces during WW II, with two guns now remaining out of the eight originally at the ready and one bunker left of the 300 which then faced the island’s only entrance channel known as the “Teavarua” Pass.We will also meet the islanders, farmers and “mamas” who make pareos using typical patterns and colors of our “fenua”.
