What a winderful scenery.
This temple with fall foliage in late autumn always makes me calm and peaceful.
It's a little bit difficult to climb this mountain to the temple. It takes us (+ 7year old kid) about 30 minutes. There is a slightly sharp slope to the temple. If you want to go together with your kid, please carry candy and cookie with you to encourage her. (:

Buseoksa Temple

Reviewed By pbuntarl - Phoenix, Arizona

It is worthwhile to climb the steps to pass the 4 gates to reach "paradise" or "heaven". This is one of the most revered landmarks in So. Korea. At the top is a beautiful temple with a golden Buddha. There are explanations in English about the history of the site and the temple. This is not an easy climb and not for the disabled in any way.

Dosanseowon Confucian School

Reviewed By Hayon N - Nairobi, Kenya

Dosan seowon (seowon means college/academy for secondary education) is considered the intellectual home of Korean confucianism. The seowon consists of multiple buildings including lecture halls, dormitories and Libraries (2 for paper books, 1 for wooden printing boards) and other subsidiary buildings. It is quite beautiful to look at ; you can even sit at the lecture hall and relax/meditate. The complex appears on the back of old Korean w1000 bill and the pavilion across the river appears on the renewed w1000 bill.

V-Train

Reviewed By Stephen R - Sunshine Coast, Australia

The V train itself is really good, meandering along the edge of the river with views of some great boulder-strewn stretches. Windows down in summer keeps the air fresh. The construction of the railway has been to support local zinc works and coal mining, with some long tunnels. The train stops help support local farmers selling produce and snacks. The only annoying point is the 10 hr return O-train ride from Seoul. Take things to amuse children of all ages.

Hwangji Pond

Reviewed By Katie C

This pond in Taebaek was a nice area in the city. Very pleasant. It's nothing to go way out of your way to see as there is nothing overly impressive. A small pond with park around it. If you're in Taebaek and need a rest, great place to enjoy, about 1 square block. We went during the Taebaek snow festival and it still had lights around the park/pond area so that was enjoyable.
