It is 10 km (6 mi) north-north west of Montefiascone and 36 km (22 mi) north-west of Viterbo. The ancient Via Cassia, today's highway SR143, follows the lake shore for some distance, passing through Bolsena.

We spent one night here on our way from Benevento to Florence. Bolsena is a small town that offers swimming and boating on its huge lake in conjunction with its historic district and medieval fort.

Historic building that has many surprises inside ....we paid 5 euros for the "packet" that included visiting the upper walls that gave a great panorama, a visit to the archaeological museum of the territory and entrance to the aquarium.
