What to do and see in Blue Mountains, New South Wales: The Best Nightlife

July 10, 2021 Matilde Konrad

The Blue Mountains are named for the delicate azure haze that lingers along the region, which is actually a fine cloud of oil emitted by eucalyptus trees. The mystical mountains are a labyrinth of plateaus, gorges and gum trees. Check out the Katoomba Scenic Railway (the steepest railway in the world), the Jenolan Caves and the Giant Staircase nature walk.

Alexandra Hotel Leura

Reviewed By MartinConboy - Sydney, Australia

We have become regulars at the Alex as it really is the best pub in the upper mountains. It has been renovated nicely and they have introduced a Pizza oven, which is very popular, The Pizza Maker is 'Marco" from Naples so the Pizzas are very authentically Italian. We have tried the bar menu and the restaurant and both offer something for everyone. Booking are essential for the restaurant. With Summer just around the corner, it's worth checking out the Beer garden at the back of the hotel, the views are stunning. The staff were lovely and friendly (it is a country pub after all) The prices were reasonable , so all in all an enjoyable experience. Well worth a visit if you are heading west out of Sydney. You need to take the Leura Mall turn off, and go through the roundabout and its on the left on the Great Western Highway.
