Domaine Hubert METZ

The Hubert Metz winery, located in Blienschwiller (Alsace, France), produces the 7 famous grape varieties of Alsace on 10 hectares of various terroirs (granite, clay, limestone…). These stunning vineyards are located alongside the Voie Romaine built to bring the Roman’s to Alsace and now used by tourists to explore on foot this beautiful region. The “Cave de la Dime”, at the heart of the winery, dates back to 1728 and this wine cellar was the registered place for tax collections on wine (dime) until the French revolution. The family vineyard and this remarkable heritage have been handed down over many generations. Current day family custodians, Hubert and his daughter Céline, are continuing the tradition with a perfect marriage of age old customs and modern technology in the winery. The vineyards, surrounding the village are divided into approximately 40 plots, which offer a wealth of terroir and an interesting diversity for their wines. The vineyard is cultivated with sustainable and environmental-friendly practices (integrated viticulture). All of this is related to a passion for wine-growing and for the most natural wine-making techniques. The family is driven by its principles of respecting the vine and its environment so that it produces grapes in the best circumstances. In the cellar, this philosophy is continued by monitoring the wines without intervening systematically to preserve the natural balance of the wine. The winery produces the 7 A.O.C. (appellation of controlled origin) grape varieties of Alsace, from its “Réserve de la Dîme” to Grand Cru Winzenberg (Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer), late harvests but also Crémant d’Alsace, white and rosé.There is a wine for everyone…
