Stob's Pyramids

Reviewed By Bucketgob - Cheltenham, United Kingdom

The pyramids are a sandstone outcrop of rocks near Blagoevgrad on the road towards Rila Monastry. The walk to view them is not for the faint hearted, The pathway is steep and pitted and certainly not suited to anyone in a wheelchair or who has any walking difficulties. The views when you reach the top are stunning with valley and mountain scenery at it's finest. You would need around 45 minutes to reach the top and at a cost of 1 lev (50 cents)) well worth the effort.

Park Bachinovo

A beautiful park to wander through. We spent a couple of hours here just taking in the surroundings. A beautiful river runs through the park and also a large lake with various activities taking place. There is an amazing above ground assault course along the river and around the banks which is ideal for the adventurous youngster and also a couple of small restaurants to satisfy those who are looking for a little relaxation.

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Church

I go to this church often to light candles and pray quietly as many Bulgarians do. It is small, dark and smoky with incense, and has lovely icons. However I am not sure if they ever actually have services.

I visited Orbelus Winery in August 2016. The winery is located in a very beautiful location in southern Bulgaria. It is 10 min by car from the highway and the border point Kulata.
The winery is an excellent example of modern bio- and organic- winery, producing hihg-quality wines. It offers a diversity of red, white and roses, mixed to form excellent wines. I would particularly reccomend to try the white wines from Sandanski Misket, as well as the Orbels Prima line.
The employees and management of the winery are very kind and welcoming people. They can guide you in degustating their wines and tell you a lot on the wine production process and the region. At the winery it is possible to purchase Orbelus Wines.
Very closely is located a camping.
Definetely I would reccomend visiting this state-of-the-art winery and try their wines.

Spent a few hours here relaxing by the pool. Reasonably priced to enjoy some time in the Bulgarian Sunshine. Lots of room for adults and children to have their fun without disturbing each other. Drinks available from one of a couple bars poolside. Recommended!

Ski Park Kartala

Reviewed By chiaraSofia - Sofia

Being in Bansko the day before, I really appreciated Kartala. Such a long ski run (5 kms they say), very well maintained, lots of options for free ride, smiling personnel at the ski lift (the lift is a bit slow though, mind that). We had a really good time skiing and I would say, more skiing than in Bansko (the crowds there are huuuge). You can also eat at the beginning of the lift for really good prices. You can reach the lift with a car for 1 EUR parking fee.
You need to drive around 30 kms from Blagoevgrad to reach this park, but considering how cheaper it is, and good for kids, and with well-maintained ski runs, it's simply awesome. Loved it and will return many times!
