What to do and see in Billings, Montana (MT): The Best Spas & Wellness

February 5, 2022 Esmeralda Fenner

Lewis & Clark, Custer, Sitting Bull and Calamity Jane may be long gone, but they are not forgotten in Billings. Museums, galleries and landmarks honoring these legendary characters from the Old West dot the city, making it a history buff's dream destination. Surrounded by six breathtaking mountain ranges, Billings also offers plenty of opportunities for fresh air recreation, including hiking, biking, golf and viewing rare Montana wildlife. Spend time at the Western Heritage Center, an interactive museum full of clothing and remarkable artifacts from the Yellowstone River Valley. In the early 1900s, the railroad brought wealth to Billings and testaments of this prosperity are still standing. Be sure to visit the regal Moss Mansion, designed by architect H.J. Hardenbergh (who also designed the Waldorf-Astoria and Plaza Hotels in New York City). In the more modern realm, MetraPark offers horse racing, rodeos, concerts, fairs and other types of entertainment everyone will enjoy. And kids of all ages will enjoy the animals and games at ZooMontana.

Sanctuary Spa

Reviewed By LisaC643 - Billings, United States

"Unless you believe that heaven is very near, how will you find it?" This line of Mary Oliver poetry came to mind - & lingered - a mere 15 minutes into my first visit to Sanctuary today. I went for a haircut. I wanted advice on managing the awkward transition from super-short to long. I arrived w/ tight neck & shoulder muscles, + a frenetic mind (picture a Border Collie who's been trapped in a car with a monkey ;P). Jasmine brought me a cup of hot herbal tea. Ashley massaged my neck, shoulders, & head for 10 minutes. As my neck felt the warm towel beneath it at the shampoo sink, I realized I was utterly blissed out, having walked in the door only 15 minutes prior. Yes. Ashley patiently listened to my mental gyrations about my vision for my hair. She quickly described how she imagineered bringing my vision to fruition. Her manner was soothing and enjoyable the entire time. She flowed with my alternating wish to chat & to simply relax. Every client's face I peered at appeared to be in a similar state of bliss. A vibe of sistah-hood & nurturance floated in the air, just like the pleasant aromas of sundry products. Thea kindly refilled my tea cup. Yes.... Ashley taught me how to style my adorable new haircut, and what to expect as it continues to grow out. She asked questions to ascertain my hair-fussing preferences. She gave me her full attention + as much time as I needed. She inspired me to give myself better [hair-oriented] self-care at home. She invited me to phone if I had any questions. Yes :) Afterward, as I shopped for product, Brandi exclaimed that she was enjoying my singing. I didn't realize I was singing. I did feel superlatively happy, relaxed, nurtured, & lovely. Her praise was delightful & told me she didn't think I was nuts! No. You, Dear Reader, might think I was on some substance during this visit. Strike that from your thought right now. Sanctuary provided me an ideal spa experience today. I will definitely return. Yes! When I got home, my husband beamed at me a long while. He's thrilled w/ my new haircut as well as my sense of calm & beautiful I brought home. Yes.... ;)
