Fort Yargo State Park

Reviewed By RebeccaMinNJ - NJ

Our extended family visited Fort Yargo State Park, paying just 5$ total to enter since we drove together in a minivan. We had our picnic supplies and ate down by the lake. The water was just perfect for swimming. Even though it was very hot, the beach/swimming area wasn't very crowded and was rather clean. The kids tried stand-up paddle boards (rented at a very reasonable 10.70 per hour), while the adults and youngest kid rented a paddleboat (10.70 for the boat). No motorboats in the water, so it was nice and calm. Kayaks and canoes are available to rent as well. There's hiking, mini-golf, disc golf, camping, and other activities on site, but we just stayed in or near the lake. If we're back in the area, we'd certainly return here and recommend it to others.

Washington Farms

Reviewed By Susan W - Atlanta, Georgia

I recently accompanied my grandkids to Washington Farms for a day of fun. There were so many activities for the little ones....and plenty to do for our 7, 5 and 3 year olds. We went on a day for homeschooled children so there was a discount on admission prices which was nice. There are fields with pumpkins for selection and picking. The grounds are clean and there is plenty of room to run and play. It was great for Fall fun and we will return when the strawberries are ready for picking!

Little Mulberry Park

This park has amazing trails for all levels of hikers and walkers. The paths are through forests, through meadows, around lakes and mixtures of all three. You can choose paved or unpaved, and sunny or shaded. There's also an equestrian trail for those who enjoy trail horseback riding. There are several docks for fishing, pavilions for gathering, and playgrounds for playing as well as animals for wildlife viewers. I have seen all types of birds and water fowl, turtles, frogs, deer, snakes, and squirrels. Most of the animals (except the squirrels) keep their distance, but they'll be close enough that you get to enjoy seeing them.

Julio is a gem! He's an amazing trainer who loves his horses very much. He is a no-nonsense trainer and teacher, but is gentle at the same time. He holds everyone accountable, but can work through any problems that occur. His big concern is safety while getting the job done. They do not do lessons, but welcome anyone wanting to learn more about the Paso Fino breed. By appointment ONLY.

Amazing cozy theater with incredible talent at a very reasonable price. This is my favorite local theater to visit for adult shows and kids programs. If you're in Gwinnett, it's well worth the drive to see a show here.

Chateau Elan Winery

The marc is a new restaurant at the Chateau Elan winery in a renovated part of the tasting room. We stopped at the winery on our arrival at the Chateau and requested a "free" sample of a couple of wines we thought interseting. The attendant offered each of us, 4 people, a sample and said they were serving them in marc, the wines were good so we went to dinner. The restaurant features farm to table with a limited menu, not a problem. The chicken and pork were more than we could ask for and the sides were served family style. We went back 2 days later.

Family ate Thanksgiving dinner at The Georgia Club buffet. Dining room was spacious and quiet. Entire dining area was very clean and nicely decorated. Pianist provided background music in the ballroom. Buffet was very good. Sides, salads, sauces and desserts were outstanding. Meats were a little dry. Dining was very relaxed and not rushed. Service by "Kassidi" was outstanding. There was ample parking near the club house. The community has a guarded gate. We enjoyed the outing. Overall, a little pricey, but to be expected at a club location. We will return.

The Story Shop

The Story Shop is a whimsical, independent children's book shop exploding with imagination and wonder, where your favorite stories come to life!

Reviewed By Wendy T - Atlanta, Georgia

The Story Shop is perfection from top to bottom-- hidden around every corner of the shop you will find references to classic stories-- a wardrobe that leads to "Narnia", Peter Pan's shadow, a Hobbit hole, the Yellow Brick Road... and so much more! There are books for all ages-- from babies to teens. My only complaint is that they weren't around when my children were little to take advantage of their story times! Even as teenagers, however, they still love visiting this store and enjoying the books as well as literature-related gift items. My oldest even had some of her senior pictures taken in the store! The employees are always friendly and kind. We could not love a store much more than we love this local treasure!!
