The family run paragliding business near Berga is a great place to learn to fly with true professionals. Three of us (experienced pilots from the UK) arrived here having never been here before. We met Paco in the landing field and he welcomed us and supplied us with great info on sites and weather. They offer a shuttle service too - very useful for us.
There is a fully kites shop too, so if you've forgotten anything you can buy it here.
Thoroughly recommend these guys.
See you next year :-)

Hostal83 Room Escape

Reviewed By richard h - Uckfield, United Kingdom

A very professional and enjoyable museum with visit into former working mine, closed since 1992. The interior (static exhibits) are fascinating and informative. The replica of a miner's apartment is very well done and a great way for children to understand how working families lived in the past. Also this museum helps to understand some of the political and social views of local people and their involvement in political movements in the region.
The trip into the mine on the diesel train is atmospheric and enthralling especially for children. Inside the mine the displays of how miners worked through the life of the mine from basic tools in the 1840s to sophisticated mass-extraction techniques from 1960s to 1990s are well prepared and give a very accurate insight into mining methods over 150 years in the area.
The guide on the occasion of our visit was a cheerful and captivating woman who obviously enjoyed what she was doing, however her explanations and dialogue (in Catalan only) during the guided tour did seem to contain a lot more information than was available on the English-language MP3 player provided.
Overall a very enjoyable experience and far more interesting and memorable than we had expected. Also, don't worry about lift shafts, slippery surfaces or claustrophobia as the path into the mine is level all the way and quite well lit (being essentially a straight path tunnel into the heart of a mountain).
The area around the mine is also fascinating as it's partly restored in the higher parts near the museum and mine entrance but further down there is a lot of dereliction and decay of historic industry and the infrastructure that built up around it, now generally abandoned and returning to nature. It is also comparatively remote and some distance from the town of Cercs itself and we found it to be not particularly well sign-posted or easy to find, even with sat nav.
Particularly fascinating was the former mine owner's beautiful gothic Victorian mansion, just down the hill from the mine, now in a forlorn and brooding state overlooking slag heaps and crumbling former mineworks buildings, and apparently for sale - to someone immensely brave with suitably deep pockets who wants to live in such an unusual and bleak landsacpe, presumably.
