Baguio City Market

Reviewed By hklbrodis - Edmond, United States

Took some foreign friends here and they enjoyed it. It's been years since I was here. It looks waaay better now. People are really friendly. They were giving honest regular prices to the foreigners (unlike other tourist places I've been in around the world where they rob the foreigners!) I accidentally dropped some money when I paid for something I bought. A stranger eventually found me and handed me the money I dropped. Vendors were really nice with giving discounts. Don't be shy in asking. Best place to buy coffee. They buy coffee from farmers (cooperative) so it's as fair trade and local as you can get (unless you buy straight from farmers). I bought some ground coffee beans in a small vaccum foil packaging so I can bring it back to my teachers in America. If you're looking for quality hand-woven Sagada bags, here's where you can find them. Just ask around and they'll point you to upstairs stalls where you can buy them. They're a bit pricey but the quality is definitely worth it! If you want pasalubongs, you can get them from here too. No need to go to the convent to buy their special ube jam.

Burnham Park

The 'mother of all parks' in Baguio city, the summer capital of the Philippines, is a 32.84-hectare park designed by, and named after, American architect and urban planner Daniel Hudson Burnham, who also designed the original plan for Baguio City as well as Dewey Boulevard (now Roxas Boulevard) in Manila. The park has 12 main areas, the most popular of which are the Burnham Lagoon, a man-made lake with rowboats for hire; a children's playground; a skating rink; the Rose Garden and the Picnic Grove.

Diplomat Hotel

Reviewed By AndyF_England - Birmingham, United States

I enjoyed my visit here, it was cool rather than spooky but i think it would be very spooky after dark! The place is not in great shape, the sooner you can visit the better. The Diplomat sits at the end of a winding road at the top of a high hill, at the moment you can access the roof and there are some great views of Baguio to be had from here. I enjoyed the walk back down the hill, there was a nice breeze, the air was fresh, and after about 10 mins you get back to the town and more shops, taxi's etc and you can also access Lourdes Grotto from here,

This place is good for someone who loves art and history, where I do include my self in loving history. They do have a lot of nipa hut where I think it will serve as your hotel room if you wanted to stay there, and also a "bul-ol". The restaurant in Tam Awan also serves a satisfying meal. I was a child back then but still I can remember the very good experience I have in Tam Awan village.
