Loved our visit there. Our daughter lives hear it and we took our grand daughter who just can't get enough of going . We were so impressed and learned so much on the personal tour. They take sick and injured parrots from all over the world and from such places as the San DIEGO ZOO. This is a must see place. Don't be put off by the outside looks. They are run by donations only and this place and the staff are amazing.

We made a special trip to see this monument because we thought it was neat to be able to see the geographic center of our country. It seems like it is too far north, but it takes into account Alaska and Hawaii. The actual center is about 15-20 miles north of the monument in someone's pasture on private land. This monument is behind the visitor center in Belle Fourche. The monument itself is on the ground and is a huge compass rose with a map of the US in the center. The volunteer who greeted us at the door of the visitor center was very friendly and helpful. It's worth a side trip.

Explore our warm and friendly little museum, featuring the history of cowboys, rodeo, pioneers, mercantile, and military. Also learn about the area's dinosaurs, archaeology and geology. Pick up a great souvenir or gift at our gift shop. Bring the kids! They will love the western activity table, dress-up trunk and discovery boxes. Our Visitor Center is well stocked with maps, travel guides and travel information.

You should definitely go to the center of the country monument and while they are at why not stop by the museum which is right next to the monument? It's a nice collection of 19th-century items and clothing worn by cowboys and cowgirls. Not real exciting but the docents are nice and willing to talk to you about anything there. There's a tiny gift shop which had some things I had not seen in other souvenir stands.

PaleoAdventures

PALEOADVENTURES is a dinosaur dig, tour company, based out of beautiful Belle Fourche, South Dakota. We take small groups of people to private, top secret ranches, in search of dinosaur bones. Guests are taught the proper tools and techniques for field excavation, documentation procedures and answer any dinosaur questions they might have. Once we think you have the techniques down, we let you dig in the quarry, searching for 65 million year old treasures. Unlike other "dig experiences", guests even get to keep some of the common fossils that they find. Commercial grade material can be purchased for an additional fee. Scientific grade fossils are reserved for museums only. You must be 8 years old or older and in good physical condition to join the hunt. Tours are from June through September and by appointment only. Come dig for over 20 different dinosaur genera, including; Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Edmontosaurus and the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex! PaleoAdventures- Resurrecting the past one grain at a time!

This was an amazingly authentic Paleontology dig and it exceeded all of our expectations. With the expert guiding and instructions from Walter, we found Raptor, Crocodile and T-Rex teeth and had a wonderful time digging for them. The hour+ drive out to the dig site was filled with educational and enriching stories surrounding the time of the dinosaurs and paleontology as a science. Would highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to put themselves in the shoes of a field paleontologist's shoes for a day.

Walked in to see what the shop was all about. Had plenty of clothing, and even some other items. Staff was not breathing down you neck or anything, just let you do your shopping in peace with a great welcome when first walking in. Ended up buying a gift for my sister there.
