Con' Olio Oils & Vinegars

Con’ Olio Oils and Vinegars was the first premium olive oil tasting bar in Austin. The Con’ Olio experience — influenced by Europe’s unique food culture, street markets and small-town cafés — is available at three Austin locations: 215 Lavaca St. in the Second Street District, at the Arboretum & in Bee Cave at the Shops at the Galleria. All three locations of this family-owned oil boutique offer the try-before-you-buy concept, serving complementary tastes of the freshest Extra Virgin Olive Oils (EVOO) & Aged Traditional Balsamic Vinegars in town. As taste testers tap into the liquid gold of Con’ Olio’s olive oils and vinegars, poured from one stainless steel Fusti storage container to another, the knowledgeable staff provides expert insight on how to identify high-grade oils and distinguish their particular flavors and aromas.

Bee Cave Central Park

We weren’t able to run our dog where we were staying, so we stumbled upon this beautiful place. We didn’t realize there is an off-leash dog park (we don’t really like them; they’re dirty and people bring aggressive dogs), but the space was beautiful and not crowded. The walking trail is long and the park was never crowded even when the kids had T-Ball night. The park is well designed with a large concrete walking/jogging path, green spaces, a chime/drum playing area, the off leash dog park, basketball courts, restroom, picnic areas and ample parking. We really loved it. The police came through almost everyday that we visited.

The Bee Cave Sculpture Park

he Bee Cave Sculpture Park weaves throughout a 7-acre natural setting showcasing a combination of permanent and rotating sculptures. In addition to the fantastic art you will find a spring-fed pond, some of the largest oak trees in the City and over 20 different native species of plants. If you look closely you will also run into quite a bit of wildlife.

We loved it!!! Some unique pieces in a lovely shaded park. The one with the boy with his dog is my favorite, but there are several I really liked a lot. We’ve been to many sculpture parks in the US, including New Orleans Bestoff at City Park, San Juan Islands in Seattle area, Dallas Nasher, National Gallery in DC, and even nearby Grenwelge Oatk in Llano. The Bee Cave Sculpture Park isn’t anything as big as the ones I just mentioned. But it is definitely worthy of a stop. We really loved it. Would be great for a picnic.

After having brunch at Cafe Blue, we were walking around the Hill Country Galleria killing time until our meet-up and happened to walk by the Jules Design Bar. We had no idea from the signs outside what a cool place it would be. All three of us loved the decor (most of which is for sale) and ambience. We did not end up buying anything but all were eyeing different things and may return. We each got one of their pricy (but delicious) cocktails which we enjoyed while sitting on their eclectic chairs. My only wish is that their cocktails were at a bit lower price point or that they were having a happy hour when we were there. Overall, it was fun to browse the shop, have a drink, and sit and chat. The bartender / shop clerk / hostess was very friendly and helpful.
