Paroa Bay Winery- Villa Accommodation.

There are few places in the world where you get the sense of land emerging from the ocean — where you can trace the contours of the land down below the waterline, where sky, land and sea are continuous — and New Zealand’s Paroa Bay Winery and Estate is one of these places. Featuring three superb villas, a boutique vineyard, and our coastal-inspired restaurant Sage — we ensure every aspect of luxury is plentifully provided for. The first of our luxury villas, Tarāpunga, is named after the local seabirds, and nests high above the bay. With floor to ceiling windows and an infinity pool on an expansive outdoor entertaining area, Tarāpunga truly brings the incredible scenery to the fore. Our second villa, Weka, is a smaller but beautifully designed residence, and available for reservation concurrently with Tarāpunga. Our third villa, Vineyard Cottage, sits amongst the vines of our famed winery and enjoys views of the beautiful rolling green hills of both vineyard and native bush.

Last month I had the great fortune to stay at The Tarapunga villa at Paroa Bay winery. This is a luxurious accommodation, gorgeously furnished with stunning views of the Bay of islands from every corner of the house . The infinity pool invites you to jump in and stare at the view. The villa has a home cinema, tennis courts, a gym, Badminton, bicycles, Golf buggies which we used to admire the beautiful surrounding nature and manicured landscape of the winery and also to access the private beach. There is also an annexed villa that can accommodate another family or grown up kids. The place is perfect in every way(it even has, Sage, next door, the best restaurant in the area ). It’s a perfect Accommodation for a perfect holiday I had the time of my life. I highly recommend it.

What an awesome experience. Can’t believe I’ve never made the trip before. Offers a far more authentic experience than anything in Rotorua. It cost $22 for 2 adults and 4 children for 1hour. Absolutely amazing!

Manginangina Kauri Walk

We were originally planning to visit Tāne Mahuta, but that was a bit too much of a drive from our Paihia accommodation so we opted to visit this forest walk instead. We're glad we did too as we've not seen a kauri forest before and we were impressed by the scale of the trees. Apart from the 3-4km of gravel road to get there, this is a beautiful spot that's an easy walk in a serene setting. Well worth a visit.
