What to do and see in Bangor, Maine (ME): The Best Things to do Good for Kids

February 13, 2022 Roger Rusk

The city of Bangor is perhaps most well known as the setting for many of Stephen King's stories, a reputation that has led to the nickname Transylmainia. There is more to Bangor than just tales of horror, however. There is a thriving arts scene, with museums, galleries, theaters, a symphony orchestra and a popular sidewalk art festival every summer. The area around Bangor includes the coastal Acadia National Park and the wooded Baxter State Park, providing plenty of outdoor adventure.

Great place to spend the afternoon. Beautiful trails, picnic area, and water fountain. Would recommend for spending a couple hours to enjoy the outdoors or to take some photos. It’s near a busy road, but it doesn’t feel like it when you’re walking around.

Penobscot River Walkway

Reviewed By DownEast47 - Finger Lakes, United States

While in Bangor, we decided to take a stroll along the beautiful Penobscot River Walkway before heading for home. I've read about it in DownEast magazine. It's so peaceful ... we were there on an autumn day; and in spite of it being chilly, there were many dog-walkers and "seniors" taking advantage of the day. A nice photo-op walk.
