Banjska Stena

Reviewed By NinaLDN - Windsor, United Kingdom

Visit the tourist info centre in Mitrovac and pick up a map of the area. Then head 5km by car (or walk) to Banjska Stena. You can either park and walk the remaining 1km. We decided to drive, as the lady in the tourist office told us of recent bear sightings! Luckily we didn't come across any bears. The views are amazing and I would highly recommend. Visit Lake Zaovine nearby.

This is amazing place - nature is so great. We came here so tired after few hours of drive but after 30 minutes fresh air from thousents of trees bring us back to life immidiately. Roads are not good to houses, but people here is very friendly and love tourists. This could be a very popular place for mountain tourist lovers in future.

It looks very odd, an entire little house, perched on top of a rock in the middle of river! Close to Bajina Bašta, if you're anywhere near, you will definitely want to see this little wonder by yourself! !

The Monastery of Raca

Reviewed By Aleksija22 - Belgrade, Serbia

If you are visiting Bajina Bašta or the Tara mountain, I would recommend visiting the Rača monastery.
The monastery is old, originally from the 13th century, and today's church building is said to be erected in 1826. It is worth visiting, due to the beauty of the building. They also sell great klekovača brandy there.
Apart from visiting the monastery, you must also visit a nearby Lađevac spring. There is a pathway from the monastery to the spring, the walk through the wood is not hard and is very pleasant. The spring itself is an attraction because it's like a small hill with numerous small Waterfalls, and the temperature throughout the year is around 15 degrees C, so in summer it is refreshing, and in winter you can enjoy a misty scenery. Very nice!

Perucac Lake

Reviewed By Dakles - Hampshire, England

We began our ascent to Lake Zaovine from the dam of Lake Perucac and there great views to be had back to the lake and the Drina valley downstream. The river is very picturesque and enhanced by the lake, so long as you can blot out the dam itself. We never made it to the Banjska Stena viewpoint (it's an hour and a half walk from Mitrovac so you probably need a minimum three and a half hours to complete the hike - we didn't have time) but I understand you get to see upstream from the lake which I would imagine is a great view.
