Astypalaia Castle

Such a beautiful and mystical sightseeing! We stayed on the island for 4 days and besides the Beaches, the castle of Astypalea was the most beautiful thing to see, take pictures and observe the panoramic view of the chora. Strongly recommend.

Kaminakia Beach

Reviewed By saronic - Zurich, Switzerland

From the three most popular Beaches out of Livadi - besides Agios Konstantinos and Vatses - this one is the furthest away. It is a 25 minutes drive on mostly gravel road. Before one gets there one passes an attractive double chapel (built in 2010). The one dedicated to St.Peter is closed, the one dedicated to St.Paul is open to visitors.
At the beach itself there are two restaurants. When last visiting there at the end of September the one closer to the beach was still open. At the right hand side are some tamarix trees. The beach consists of sand and fine gravel and it is easy to get into the water.
Since it faces south it is protected from the northerly Meltemi winds, which regularly blow in summer.

Agios Konstantinos Beach

Reviewed By saronic - Zurich, Switzerland

It is about a 15 minutes drive away from Livadi, the last part of the small road not being surfaced anymore. There is no public transport to this beach. There are two café bars, at least one still open end of September, both also renting out sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach consists mainly of fine gravel and it is easy to get into the water.
Phantastic is the view from here towards Astypalaia's Chora and its castle. On the other hand the beach is exposed to the northern winds, especially the Meltemi, which blows regularly in summer, so there can be quite some waves. In this case it is better to go and swim at one of the south facing Beaches, either Vatses or Kaminakia.
A lovely view can also be had a bit further up, from the Agios Konstantinos Chapel (from 1973, as is written there), which has given the beach its name.

Vatses Beach

Reviewed By READYFERRETTI - Houston, Texas

It is one of the most beautiful Beaches on the island BUT it is the ownership of the beach bar and their staff that bring us back every year! The owner gives such care to everything they offer, everything from the beach chairs with thatched umbrellas, delicious organic food, delicious coffees and cocktails mixed perfectly. The focus on service is surpassed by none on the island. Vatses Beach Bar is a serious business and their business is creating the best laid back experience providing excellent product to the lucky people who find this place! Don't miss the Greek salad!
